Multiverse Computing And Mila Join Forces To Advance Artificial Intelligence With Quantum Computing

Multiverse Computing, a European quantum computing company, and Mila, an academic research centre in deep learning, have announced a partnership to advance AI and machine learning using quantum and quantum-inspired technologies.

The collaboration will also focus on the following:

  • Developing new leaders in quantum computing and machine learning high-tech disciplines.
  • The biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Mila is a global powerhouse of scientific development in Montreal, with over 1000 AI and ML researchers. They have an extensive network of business partners across various industries, including bio & pharma, agritech, and industry 4.0. This collaboration will allow Multiverse to work closely with Mila’s community and its numerous researchers and students.

According to Enrique Lizaso Olmos, CEO of Multiverse Computing, the collaboration will offer quantum ML and quantum-inspired ML to Mila researchers and students.

“We’ve already started conversations with biotech and pharma companies in addition to other sectors with which we share quantum use cases,” “The conversation is all about augmenting their products with our technology.”

Multiverse Computing’s quantum experts will join Mila’s researchers to develop augmented reality. Multiverse Computing will support the research with tensor networks, while Mila will support it with their expertise in the field.

The primary reason for studying tensor networks for machine learning is to minimize the number of trainable parameters by approximating a high-order tensor with a network of lower-order ones. The technique uses quantum physics models to improve the speed and precision of training ML models.

Multiverse Computing and Mila seem to share similar views on quantum ethics. The Multiverse Ethics Committee helps build the company’s vision and culture to foster an ethical workplace that values diversity and sustainability.

Mila’s objective is based on the creation of AI that is socially responsible and useful. The company contributes to social discussion and creates apps that serve society as a field leader. Several Mila researchers have also participated in initiatives to create an ethical framework for AI, including the Montreal Declaration for the Responsible Development of Artificial Intelligence and the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of AI and Digital Technologies.
