NetSfere has launched Federations, a worldwide network employing ML-KEM 1024 end-to-end encryption for all messages between organizations, addressing a critical and growing cybersecurity vulnerability, the company says. Verizon’s 2026 Data Breach Investigations Report revealed that 48% of breaches now involve a third party, a 60% increase in one year, highlighting the risk in inter-company communication. Unlike typical approaches, NetSfere Federations avoids copying or synchronizing directory data, allowing each organization to maintain complete control of its own governance and records.
“Business no longer happens within a single organization,” said Anurag Lal, President and CEO of NetSfere. “It happens across partners, suppliers, customers and group companies.”
NetSfere Federations Enable Governed Ecosystem Connectivity
NetSfere Federations establishes a direct connection between organizations, bypassing traditional directory synchronization and immediately addressing a critical vulnerability in enterprise communication security. The system avoids creating external user accounts within each organization’s internal directory, maintaining complete administrative control and data governance for each participant. The platform’s security foundation rests on ML-KEM 1024 end-to-end encryption, extending the same quantum-resilient protection used within a single organization to all messages, files, and calls exchanged between federated entities.
Establishing a federation is a configuration within the NetSfere Admin Control Panel, streamlining the process and eliminating the complexities of traditional directory integration projects. Administrators can precisely control which contact attributes are published, mapping fields on a per-federation basis and withdrawing exposure at any time without requiring agreement from other members.
IDC estimates the worldwide Unified Communications and Collaboration market reached $69.2 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $85.4 billion by 2029, yet much of this investment has focused on internal collaboration, leaving cross-organizational communication largely unprotected. NetSfere Federations addresses this gap by enabling organizations to join a worldwide network and connect with others under their own governance terms, according to the company. A single federation can scale from a partnership between two organizations to encompass an entire ecosystem, spanning geographical regions and deployment models.
Each organization retains a complete record of its federated conversations, adhering to its own retention policies and regional obligations, while maintaining no visibility into the internal communications of other members. This approach ensures compliance with evolving data sovereignty regulations and strengthens overall cyber resilience. The system’s global construction allows federations to span organizations in different countries and regional deployments, accommodating both cloud and on-premises environments.
Organizations can establish multiple federations, each tailored to specific work requirements with its own members and published groups. Lal stated that every major business initiative today depends on communication beyond the enterprise. Yet enterprise communication technology continues to treat organizational boundaries as the limit of trust, which is an architecture challenge, not a policy challenge. NetSfere built Federations to solve this problem. NetSfere Federations is currently available to NetSfere Enterprise customers, with federation relationships established through NetSfere Support and managed by customer administrators within the platform’s Admin Control Panel.
Every major business initiative today depends on communication beyond the enterprise. Yet enterprise communication technology continues to treat organizational boundaries as the limit of trust. That’s an architecture challenge, not a policy challenge. We built Federations to solve it. The same quantum-resilient protection organizations rely on inside their own enterprise now extends to every organization they work with.
