The first virtual Quantum conference of the season

Corona is forcing us all to work from home and that means conferences are somewhat of an issue. But never fear, the latest Quantum developments are coming over the wire from QCTIP2020 via zoom and slack.

This years conference covered so many topics, but we just provide a few select snippets. Universal Quantum Computing spoke about their Ion trap technologies and their fully electronic systems that might see millions of qubits. Its founder Winnifred claims he will be build a football pitch of qubits if he needs to. Matthias Troyer from Microsoft Quantum spoke amongst other things Quantum inspired algorithms versus state of the art. Matthew Harrigan from Google AI Quantum speaking on Quantum Approximization algorithms.

Shame about the lack of beers afterwards but we did manage a few from the office!
