Us Army Research To Fund Quantum Computing Into Novel Qubits

With just about any groundbreaking technology it is expected that security and military applications become of vital national importance. So it should come as no surprise that the US Army division responsible for research is keen to ensure continued development of capabilities and that means investment into Quantum. The US Army Research Office (ARO) in collaboration with the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS), who have been collaborating for over 20 years, have launched a new funding initiative for Quantum named: Next New and Emerging Qubit Science & Technology or (nextNEQST) for short.

Us Army Research To Fund Quantum Computing Into Novel Qubits

Not just tanks and weapons. The US Army Research is funding Quantum technologies with a new funding initiative for Quantum named: Next New and Emerging Qubit Science & Technology or (nextNEQST) for short.

The initiative is aimed at developing qubit technologies that explore new operating regimes and environments. That includes new methods of fabrication, design, control/operation. The requirements are for qubits that can exhibit novel properties that include advantages over existing qubits in coherence, fabrication, and/or qubit operation over current state-of-the art qubits.
