NEC to Deploy Claude to 30,000 Employees Globally

NEC Corporation is deploying Anthropic’s Claude to its 30,000 employees globally, establishing what the company claims will be one of Japan’s largest AI-focused engineering organizations. This collaboration marks Anthropic’s first partnership with a Japan-based global entity, signaling an effort to tailor AI solutions for Japanese industry. NEC is immediately integrating Claude into its Security Operations Center to bolster defenses against increasingly sophisticated cybersecurity threats, extending beyond future product development to address current vulnerabilities. “This long-term partnership with Anthropic enables NEC to maximize the potential of AI in the Japanese market,” said Toshifumi Yoshizaki, Executive Officer and COO of NEC Corporation. “Together, we aim to create solutions that meet the high safety, reliability, and quality standards demanded by companies and public administration in Japan.”

NEC Integrates Claude into BluStellar Scenario Program

Beyond immediate security applications, NEC is embedding Claude, including versions Claude Opus 4.7 and Claude Code, into its BluStellar Scenario program, a comprehensive suite offering consulting, AI tools, security infrastructure, and digital services to businesses. This integration will initially focus on data-driven management and customer experience offerings, with plans for phased expansion across the entire BluStellar portfolio, demonstrating a commitment to AI-powered solutions. NEC intends to cultivate this workforce through a dedicated Center of Excellence, providing technical training and support from Anthropic, and utilizing Claude Code to enhance engineering workflows. This internal focus, part of NEC’s “Client Zero” initiative, where the company tests technology internally before external release, highlights a commitment to practical application and refinement before market deployment. The companies will jointly develop secure, domain-specific AI products targeting key sectors including finance, manufacturing, and local government, with a particular emphasis on meeting the stringent safety, reliability, and quality standards expected by Japanese businesses and public administration.
