Spooqy releases Tyche, an open-source quantum library

Spooqy Technology is building two open-source Python libraries, Tyche and Eris, deliberately named for the goddesses of fortune and discord to reflect quantum information’s probabilistic and inconsistent nature. Tyche provides the foundational programming for quantum states and measurements, while Eris builds upon it to enable contextual applications; Spooqy states these libraries are essential tools for users, explaining, “These are the objects our users must hold.” Around these libraries, Spooqy Cloud offers high-performance simulators, including network simulation capabilities, and advanced analytics, positioning the platform as a complete ecosystem for quantum development and application. This blueprint resembles successful early quantum monetization strategies seen with IBM’s Qiskit and Xanadu’s PennyLane.

Tyche and Eris: Open-Source Foundations for Quantum Information

Tyche serves as the programming basis for quantum states and measurements, providing the data structures and algorithms necessary for programmable quantum objects. Eris builds upon this foundation to address contextuality, a fundamental quantum resource powering Spooqy’s application development.

The libraries are components of the company’s roadmap and are designed to be freely accessible to users, operating “under no licence of ours.” This commitment to open access positions the libraries as core building blocks, allowing users to create, inspect, and manipulate quantum-information data structures independently. The platform offers both an API for programmatic connection with Tyche and Eris, and a web interface for accessing AI tools and educational resources.

The compilation stack is designed to be built by a fabrication facility, allowing for potential movement beyond software and into hardware production. This certification is device-independent, proven from the interface alone, and can be computed once, delivered with the device, and verified by the customer for as long as the device runs.

Contextual Compilation Stack: From Specification to Certified Device

Spooqy Technology’s newly detailed roadmap prioritizes a stack designed to transform high-level application specifications into certified, buildable hardware. This stack represents a critical layer beyond the company’s open-source libraries, Tyche and Eris, and aims to automate the complex process of translating abstract quantum programs into physical devices, Spooqy Technology says.

The compiler within this stack descends through stages, from contextual design and quantum implementation to a final hardware blueprint, ultimately delivering a device with built-in security certification. While some capabilities of the stack will be accessible through Spooqy Cloud, the most advanced features will remain internal, supporting the creation of bespoke applications for business clients.

Crucially, the final output of the compilation stack is, by construction, something a fab can build, positioning Spooqy to potentially move beyond software and into hardware production. Spooqy’s approach, however, intends to accelerate protocol development; agentic frontier AI will explore the design space, generating applications tailored to customer needs. The company states, “Once the compilation stack reaches its advanced stages and monetisable applications start coming off it, gearing up for our own hardware production is the natural growth move,” anticipating products developed, fabricated, and certified as a single unit.

AI-Driven Design & Future Hardware Co-Development

Spooqy Technology is building beyond software, envisioning a fully integrated hardware and software pipeline driven by artificial intelligence. The core of this hardware ambition lies in leveraging agentic frontier AI to accelerate protocol development, differing from traditional quantum development where a limited number of experts produce protocols over extended periods. This integrated approach extends to long-term plans for stable, large-capacity quantum memory, seen as essential for definitive applications and a potential area for spin-off ventures.
