Quantum Motion has promoted Anna Stockklauser to Chief Product Officer, a move directly linked to the company’s delivery of the United Kingdom’s first full-stack silicon CMOS quantum computer to the National Quantum Computing Centre. Stockklauser will now lead product strategy and roadmap delivery as Quantum Motion transitions from engineering development to active field deployments, building on her work defining the technology that underpinned that initial system. The promotion coincides with a $160 million Series C funding round secured in May 2026, signaling investor confidence in the company’s silicon-spin qubit approach.
Stockklauser’s Rigetti & ETH Zurich Background Inform Product Leadership
Anna Stockklauser’s prior work at Rigetti directly informed the establishment of Quantum Motion’s UK hardware operation, bringing the first quantum computing centre outside of the United States online and establishing a foundation for the company’s subsequent growth. Before joining Quantum Motion in February 2023, Stockklauser’s responsibilities at Rigetti included defining the strategic direction for hardware development, and this experience was immediately applied to deliver Quantum Motion’s initial silicon spin-qubit system, the company says.
This system became the world’s first commercial offering of its kind, deployed at the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) and representing a significant step beyond purely theoretical quantum computing research. Stockklauser’s experience building and scaling quantum hardware operations helped transition Quantum Motion from an engineering-focused organization to one capable of active field deployments.
Stockklauser’s academic background at ETH Zurich’s Quantum Device Lab and Nanophysics group provided a strong theoretical basis for her work in silicon-based quantum computing, specializing in hybrid quantum systems combining superconducting circuits and semiconductor quantum dots. Her 2017 PhD focused on these complex systems, equipping her with the expertise to navigate the challenges of building stable and scalable qubits using silicon transistor technology.
This foundation is particularly relevant given Quantum Motion’s commitment to silicon spin qubits, a technology that uses existing semiconductor manufacturing processes for potentially greater scalability and cost-effectiveness. The company manufactures its processors with GlobalFoundries, a strategy enabled by Stockklauser’s understanding of both quantum physics and established fabrication techniques, according to Quantum Motion.
“As Chief Product Officer, she will continue to set the technical direction for what we build and how we deploy it in the field, ensuring our product roadmap stays aligned with the needs of enterprise data centres and global partners.” Stockklauser’s leadership also drove critical milestones within DARPA’s QBI program, highlighting Quantum Motion’s involvement in a major US government research initiative focused on advancing quantum information science. “Having delivered our initial system to the NQCC, I am excited to step into the CPO role at such a key moment in the quantum field.”
Quantum Motion’s ability to build quantum processors using standard silicon manufacturing presents the clearest path to utility-scale quantum computing.
