The National Quantum Computing Centre-Bristol is targeting research students and industry practitioners within the UK’s quantum start-up ecosystem with bursaries to enhance skills in a rapidly developing field. These bursaries will support participation in intensive online courses, each lasting six weeks with two weeks of breaks and requiring approximately 10 hours of commitment per week.
The courses, delivered in collaboration with the University of Bristol, are designed for those with STEM backgrounds and existing knowledge of linear algebra. The NQCC states that the courses provide skills highly sought after for roles in quantum computing, such as developing quantum algorithms.

This targeted support aims to address a critical need for specialized skills as the UK seeks to establish itself as a leader in quantum innovation, according to the NQCC. The initiative focuses on bolstering expertise within companies actively building quantum technologies, rather than broad academic training. A second, more advanced course builds upon the first and is recommended for technical professionals and researchers already familiar with the core concepts.
This course, scheduled from October 12th to December 11th, 2026, with a September 20th registration deadline, will equip participants with an understanding of key quantum algorithms and quantum error correction. Teaching incorporates recorded lectures, live interactive sessions, and assignments with personalized feedback, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for those seeking to advance their quantum computing capabilities.
