Former HPE Executive to Scale Pasqal’s Quantum Platform

A significant shift is underway in the quantum computing industry as Pasqal, a leader in neutral-atom quantum computing, has appointed Mark Armstrong as Chief Commercial Officer for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. Armstrong joins Pasqal from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where he previously led the company’s High Performance Computing and AI business across EMEA, indicating a transfer of leadership from traditional high-performance computing into the developing quantum field. The appointment coincides with a milestone for Pasqal, which now has seven quantum systems in production across four countries, and offers access to its systems via cloud partnerships including Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, OVHcloud, and Scaleway.

The appointment of Mark Armstrong as Chief Commercial Officer at Pasqal signals a move toward enterprise-level deployment of quantum computing hardware. This hire underscores Pasqal’s ambition to move beyond research and development and establish a commercial presence in key global markets, including energy, financial services, advanced materials, and high-performance computing, reflecting a pragmatic approach to identifying early adopters and demonstrating tangible value. Pasqal’s systems are accessible both on-premises and via a cloud network encompassing Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, OVHcloud, and Scaleway; the inclusion of Scaleway alongside the major hyperscalers suggests a broader cloud strategy than simply relying on established industry leaders. Armstrong expressed his commitment to accelerating commercial growth, stating that his goal is to scale the commercial engine, deepen partnerships, and help customers across EMEA and APAC turn quantum capability into competitive advantage. He further clarified that the opportunity now is not simply to discuss the future of quantum, but to help customers create quantum-enabled outcomes today.

Quantum computing is entering its commercial era, and the companies that win will be the ones that can turn breakthrough technology into real customer value at scale.

Rusty is a quantum science nerd. He's been into academic science all his life, but spent his formative years doing less academic things. Now he turns his attention to write about his passion, the quantum realm. He loves all things Quantum Physics especially. Rusty likes the more esoteric side of Quantum Computing and the Quantum world. Everything from Quantum Entanglement to Quantum Physics. Rusty thinks that we are in the 1950s quantum equivalent of the classical computing world. While other quantum journalists focus on IBM's latest chip or which startup just raised $50 million, Rusty's over here writing 3,000-word deep dives on whether quantum entanglement might explain why you sometimes think about someone right before they text you. (Spoiler: it doesn't, but the exploration is fascinating)
