Equal1’s quantum leap expands global ops with Decawave’s Flynn on board

Equal1 has appointed Andrew Flynn as Chief Operating Officer to scale production of its rack-mounted quantum computer, RacQ. Flynn brings over twenty years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing and global supply chains, including oversight of Decawave’s ultra-wideband chip production from wafer fabrication through qualification. He previously led manufacturing and portfolio management through Decawave’s 2020 acquisition by Qorvo, demonstrating a capacity to manage complex transitions. “Equal1 is leading the industry in making quantum computing deployable and scalable,” said Flynn.

Flynn’s Semiconductor Expertise Drives RacQ Commercialization

Andrew Flynn’s prior work at Decawave centered on the complete production lifecycle of ultra-wideband chips, encompassing wafer fabrication, assembly, testing and qualification processes. This experience directly addresses the challenges of scaling quantum hardware manufacturing, a critical step for Equal1 as it expands production of its RacQ rack-mounted quantum computer. Flynn previously held the position of Vice President of Manufacturing and Quality at the Dublin-based semiconductor company, overseeing these complex supply chain elements.

His expertise extends beyond initial production. He maintained leadership through Decawave’s 2020 acquisition by Qorvo, serving as Dublin Site Lead and Director of Portfolio, Test and Operations. Prior to his decade at Decawave, Flynn spent eleven years at Xilinx, building and developing teams focused on manufacturing technology and supplier quality in both Dublin and Singapore. This background demonstrates a consistent focus on establishing robust and scalable operational frameworks within the semiconductor industry.

CEO Jason Lynch highlighted the importance of this skillset, stating, “Andrew joins Equal1 as we scale commercialization of RacQ and expand our global operations. He understands what it takes to bring complex semiconductor technology from development to volume production.” The appointment arrives as Equal1 focuses on making quantum computing commercially scalable, a goal Flynn says he is “excited to join at this stage and help build the manufacturing capabilities, supply chains and operations needed to bring this technology to more customers worldwide.” His experience in navigating a corporate acquisition, specifically the Qorvo purchase of Decawave, will be valuable as Equal1 expands its global footprint and ramps up RacQ production to meet anticipated demand.

Equal1 is leading the industry in making quantum computing deployable and scalable.
