BTQ Technologies Acquires QPerfect to Expand Quantum Tech Stack

BTQ Technologies has received final approval from French Foreign Direct Investment authorities to fully acquire QPerfect, a French quantum computing company specializing in software and emulation. The clearance comes with detailed commitments imposed by the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance, requiring the preservation of QPerfect’s French operations, research, and intellectual property; these conditions highlight the strategic importance of maintaining European control over key quantum technologies. This acquisition adds QPerfect’s “MIMIQ” quantum emulator, alongside its digital twin and control capabilities, to BTQ’s technology stack, furthering the company’s mission of building trusted quantum technologies. Shares in BTQ Technologies trade on Nasdaq as BTQ and on CBOE CA as BTQ.

BTQ Technologies Acquires QPerfect for Quantum Technology Expansion

Central to the acquisition is QPerfect’s “MIMIQ” quantum emulator, now integrated into BTQ’s technology stack. This emulator allows developers to design, test, and validate quantum algorithms using standard computing infrastructure, achieving simulations of systems with a significant number of qubits, a crucial step toward scaling quantum algorithm development and security testing. BTQ emphasizes that building trusted quantum technologies necessitates preparing existing network infrastructure for the integration of quantum computers, focusing on securing systems against quantum-enabled threats and ensuring long-term reliability. The company believes the transition to quantum-safe cryptography will demand optimized hardware and software layers, a need QPerfect’s technologies directly address. The total purchase price is comprised of (a) €18,592, paid on closing, and (b) an earnout payment of up to €5,672 dependent on achieving specific milestones. 198,808 restricted share units were also issued to QPerfect’s CEO, Philippe Blot, who will continue in his role.

According to Olivier Roussy Newton, CEO and Chairman of BTQ, completing the acquisition of QPerfect is an important milestone for BTQ, and QPerfect’s expertise will expand their technology stack and advance their mission. QPerfect’s Digital Twin capability, which creates software representations of quantum systems for simulation and optimization, and its Quantum Logical Unit control framework, designed for scalable quantum systems, are expected to support validation frameworks for quantum-ready infrastructure.

QPerfect brings world-class quantum software, emulation, digital twin, and neutral atom expertise into our organization.

Rusty is a quantum science nerd. He's been into academic science all his life, but spent his formative years doing less academic things. Now he turns his attention to write about his passion, the quantum realm. He loves all things Quantum Physics especially. Rusty likes the more esoteric side of Quantum Computing and the Quantum world. Everything from Quantum Entanglement to Quantum Physics. Rusty thinks that we are in the 1950s quantum equivalent of the classical computing world. While other quantum journalists focus on IBM's latest chip or which startup just raised $50 million, Rusty's over here writing 3,000-word deep dives on whether quantum entanglement might explain why you sometimes think about someone right before they text you. (Spoiler: it doesn't, but the exploration is fascinating)
