Keysight and Q-CTRL Join Forces to Boost Quantum Processor Development and Quality

Keysight Technologies and Q-CTRL are partnering to accelerate quantum processor development. They aim to provide an integrated solution that allows quantum developers to scale the quantity and quality of quantum processors. The solution will incorporate Q-CTRL’s Boulder Opal hardware optimization and automation functionality into Keysight’s Quantum Control System (QCS). This will enhance quantum processor characterization and optimization, reducing characterization time and improving device up-time. The partnership will also provide advanced AI/ML tools, automate device optimization, and enable more avenues of exploration and innovation for quantum scientists and engineers.

Quantum Software Development: Keysight and Q-CTRL Collaboration

Keysight Technologies, Inc. and Q-CTRL, a company specializing in quantum infrastructure software, have announced a partnership to integrate key infrastructure quantum software to expedite the development of quantum processors. This collaboration is expected to enhance the characterization and optimization of quantum processors, thereby accelerating quantum development.

Quantum Computation: Challenges and Solutions

Quantum computation is characterized by an exponential expansion of computational space as more qubits are added to a quantum processor. However, this exponential growth also increases the complexity of designing, testing, and operating quantum systems. Quantum hardware developers are thus faced with a slow and complex design cycle as current software tools necessitate exhaustive testing and calibration of an ever-increasing number of configurations and combinations.

To address these challenges, Keysight and Q-CTRL offer an integrated solution enabling quantum developers to scale both the quantity and quality of quantum processors effectively. This solution will incorporate Q-CTRL’s Boulder Opal hardware optimization and automation functionality into Keysight’s Quantum Control System (QCS), enhancing the quantum processor characterization and optimization capability. This integration is expected to reduce characterization time and improve device up-time significantly.

Accelerating Quantum Development: The Joint Solution

The joint solution proposed by Keysight and Q-CTRL aims to accelerate quantum development by providing advanced AI/ML tools to navigate complex design and characterization spaces, enabling closed-loop, autonomous agents to efficiently determine the relationship between Hamiltonian parameters and QCS hardware settings. This will result in less time spent calibrating and characterizing a quantum processor, speeding up development cycles and freeing up more time for use case development.

The solution will also allow users to program and optimize experiments specific to their quantum device, enabling more exploration and innovation for quantum scientists and engineers. The Keysight QCS combines dedicated quantum control hardware and full-stack software capabilities to provide an easy-to-use solution for the control and readout of quantum devices. Q-CTRL Boulder Opal delivers cloud-accelerated hardware design, AI-based automation, and quantum control optimization.

Alex Shih, Head of Product at Q-CTRL, expressed his delight in collaborating with Keysight, stating that the partnership will empower experimentalists and researchers to build and scale natural quantum systems. Eric T. Holland, Director of Strategic Initiatives, Quantum at Keysight, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that customer success is at the core of Keysight’s operations and that the collaboration with Q-CTRL results from feedback from quantum users.

Keysight Technologies, Inc. is a global innovation partner that provides market-leading design, emulation, and test solutions to help engineers develop and deploy faster, with less risk, throughout the entire product life cycle. The company serves customers in quantum, communications, industrial automation, aerospace and defense, automotive, semiconductor, and general electronics markets, enabling them to accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world.

As the Official Quantum Dog (or hound) by role is to dig out the latest nuggets of quantum goodness. There is so much happening right now in the field of technology, whether AI or the march of robots. But Quantum occupies a special space. Quite literally a special space. A Hilbert space infact, haha! Here I try to provide some of the news that might be considered breaking news in the Quantum Computing space.
