From Nasdaq IPO to quantum scale-up, A new CFO for QuantWare

Bart Filius will join QuantWare as Chief Financial Officer on October 12, 2026, bringing extensive experience securing funding for complex science-driven ventures. Filius previously led Galapagos through its Nasdaq IPO and negotiated a $5 billion research and development collaboration with Gilead. His appointment arrives as QuantWare closes a $178 million Series B funding round and builds KiloFab, its industrial-scale fabrication facility, while already serving more than 50 customers in 20 countries. “Bart is a true leader who knows what it is like to build a hypergrowth company,” said CEO Matt Rijlaarsdam.

Galapagos IPO Expertise Guides QuantWare’s Financial Strategy

The scale of that deal, finalized under Filius’s leadership, highlights his capacity to navigate the financial and logistical challenges inherent in translating early-stage research into large-scale commercial partnerships. This skillset will be important as QuantWare expands its KiloFab facility and pursues further innovation in superconducting qubit technology. QuantWare’s existing commercial traction, with over 50 customers spanning 20 countries, signals a pre-existing market demand for its VIO quantum processors and provides a foundation for accelerated growth under Filius’s financial guidance.

The appointment of Filius directly addresses the financial complexities of scaling a deeply technical company into a global, commercial enterprise. “What attracted me most was the scale of the vision and the energy of the team pursuing it, and I look forward to building the financial foundations for QuantWare’s next phase of growth,” said Filius, emphasizing his commitment to supporting the company’s ambitious goals. CEO Matt Rijlaarsdam echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our mission is hyperscaling quantum processors to solve humanity’s greatest challenges, which requires building a company that operates at a global scale.”

Rusty is a quantum science nerd. He's been into academic science all his life, but spent his formative years doing less academic things. Now he turns his attention to write about his passion, the quantum realm. He loves all things Quantum Physics especially. Rusty likes the more esoteric side of Quantum Computing and the Quantum world. Everything from Quantum Entanglement to Quantum Physics. Rusty thinks that we are in the 1950s quantum equivalent of the classical computing world. While other quantum journalists focus on IBM's latest chip or which startup just raised $50 million, Rusty's over here writing 3,000-word deep dives on whether quantum entanglement might explain why you sometimes think about someone right before they text you. (Spoiler: it doesn't, but the exploration is fascinating)
