IW Capital leads a €12 million Series A2 funding round for QuantrolOx, a University of Oxford spinout focused on scaling quantum hardware and building a skilled workforce. The investment will fuel commercial growth for QuantrolOx, including expansion in North America after recently opening a US office in Berkeley, California, and brings the company’s total funding to approximately €28 million. QuantrolOx addresses key industry challenges with products like Quantum EDGE, a hardware-agnostic automation platform, and Quantum EDGE Academy, a training program combining courses with simulated hardware.
IW Capital Leads €12 Million Series A2 Funding for QuantrolOx
The latest funding round for QuantrolOx totals €12 million, led by IW Capital with participation from Voima Ventures, Serendipity Capital, Hoxton Ventures and Transpose Capital. This investment follows the company’s initial funding and brings its total raised to approximately €28 million, equivalent to $31 million. QuantrolOx intends to use these funds to address critical bottlenecks in the scaling of quantum computing, specifically automation of complex hardware and workforce development.
The company’s approach centers on three interconnected products designed to accelerate quantum processing unit development. Quantum EDGE, a hardware-agnostic platform, streamlines QPU characterisation, calibration, and tuning. VIDYAQAR, an open-architecture superconducting quantum system, provides a platform for education, research, and benchmarking, and the company stated that this signals a move towards industrial-scale quantum computing solutions. The company, a spinout of the University of Oxford and headquartered in Finland, also maintains offices in the UK, Netherlands and India, reflecting its global ambitions.
