D-Wave And Quantumbasel Extend Pact To Boost Quantum Tech Adoption In Europe

D-Wave Quantum Inc. and QuantumBasel have extended their strategic relationship for two more years to accelerate the development of quantum and quantum-hybrid applications in Europe. D-Wave, a leader in quantum computing systems, will open a European office on the QuantumBasel campus in Switzerland. This move reflects a growing regional interest in D-Wave’s quantum computing solutions, including the Advantage system, a fifth-generation quantum system with over 5,000 qubits. The partnership aims to fast-track the commercialisation of quantum computing in the region. QuantumBasel is Switzerland’s first commercial quantum hub, located on the uptownBasel innovation campus.

D-Wave and QuantumBasel Extend Partnership to Boost Quantum Technology in Europe

The establishment of D-Wave’s European office is a response to the growing regional customer interest in and usage of D-Wave’s annealing quantum computing solutions. These solutions include the Advantage™ system, a fifth-generation annealing quantum system that features over 5,000 qubits and 15-way connectivity.

The initial strategic collaboration between D-Wave and QuantumBasel was signed in December 2022. D-Wave was named as a quantum technology provider for QuantumBasel, giving the centre’s tenants and customers access to its Advantage annealing quantum computer via the Leap™ real-time quantum cloud service.

Successful Joint Initiatives and Customer Engagements

Since the initial agreement, D-Wave and QuantumBasel have successfully led a variety of joint go-to-market initiatives and worked on numerous customer engagements. This includes a pilot project with VINCI Energies, where quantum-hybrid applications targeted at industrial construction are being created.

The extended partnership between D-Wave and QuantumBasel signifies a shared dedication to quantum innovation in Switzerland and beyond. The collaboration aims to drive quantum advancements and progress towards broader commercial adoption.

QuantumBasel and D-Wave’s Vision for the Future

QuantumBasel and D-Wave share a vision of solving the world’s most complex problems for the betterment of industry and society. The recent announcement reflects strong progress towards achieving that mission, as joint customers are quickly realising the near-term advantage of D-Wave’s quantum technology. Through their collaboration and now the European office presence, they anticipate accelerated momentum for quantum and quantum-hybrid applications moving into production and fuelling operations.
