Diraq Signs Letter of Intent to Join Illinois Quantum Park, Bolstering DARPA QBI Efforts

The Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP) has signed a letter of intent with Diraq, an Australian quantum computing company and performer in DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, to join the park as a future tenant. Diraq plans to initially locate at IQMP’s On-Ramp program, which allows companies to operate within Illinois’ quantum ecosystem while the park is under development. The company, which uses silicon quantum dot spin qubits and industry-standard CMOS manufacturing technologies, aims to build cost-effective, utility-scale quantum computers for global deployment. Diraq’s decision to expand its U.S. operations in Illinois reflects the state’s growing position as a hub for quantum innovation, supported by $140 million in state funding for the Quantum Proving Ground at IQMP.

Illinois Vision for Global Quantum Leadership

The Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP) is a hub for advancing quantum computing infrastructure through strategic investments and partnerships. The park’s development at the former U.S. Steel South Works site reflects its commitment to repurposing industrial spaces for cutting-edge technological research. IQMP serves as a focal point for quantum innovation, housing anchor tenants like PsiQuantum, which is developing the first utility-scale, error-corrected quantum computer.

IQMP collaborates with DARPA on the Quantum Proving Ground, dedicated to testing and evaluating quantum computing prototypes.
