QUDORA Technologies is among 13 European quantum startups selected under the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking’s Quantum Grand Challenge, a program designed to bolster the continent’s quantum computing capabilities. The German full-stack quantum computing company announced that it has been selected as a result of the open call that concluded in January 2026, following the EuroHPC JU’s Governing Board approval of the final list on 19 June 2026.
The company’s NEQTAR project will detail a path for integrating its Near Field Quantum Control technology with existing European high-performance computing infrastructure. Through NEQTAR, QUDORA will map integration into supercomputing environments, aiming for a commercially viable, fault-tolerant quantum computer.
NEQTAR Project to Scale Near Field Quantum Control Technology
The project’s focus extends beyond theoretical advancement, aiming to define the technical and financial roadmap necessary for scaling the company’s proprietary technology. This integration will use Europe’s existing HPC capabilities, positioning QUDORA to deliver quantum computing systems through both on-premises installations and its QUDORA Cloud platform. Founded in 2021 and based in Braunschweig, Germany, QUDORA distinguishes itself with a full-stack approach to trapped-ion quantum computing.
Its Near Field Quantum Control technology combines precise qubit control with extended coherence times and manufacturing processes compatible with semiconductors, enhancing qubit performance. The company’s expansion into the Asia-Pacific region with the launch of QUDORA Japan K.K. demonstrates a commitment to international partnerships and commercial growth, further supported by this latest EU endorsement. EuroHPC Funding Supports QUDORA’s Roadmap for Utility-Scale Quantum Computing
This designation distinguishes NEQTAR among the selected projects, signifying a rigorous evaluation of its technical merit and commercial viability by the European Commission. The project’s scope extends beyond simply demonstrating quantum control; it will detail a financial roadmap for scaling the technology, a critical component often missing from early-stage quantum ventures. According to the company, this integration isn’t merely about connecting quantum processors to HPC systems, but about architecting a cohesive system where both technologies complement each other.
The Quantum Grand Challenge operates in two phases, beginning with an open competitive call for startups in October 2025 and concluding in January 2026. The EuroHPC JU’s Governing Board approved the final list of selected proposals on 19 June 2026, selecting these companies as a result of this call.
This staged approach combines Horizon Europe grant funding with potential financing from the European Investment Bank, providing a multi-faceted support system for European quantum companies. QUDORA’s participation signifies a commitment to long-term development, as the project will chart a course for scaling its Near Field Quantum Control technology beyond initial demonstrations and toward practical, utility-scale applications.
