QuantWare has secured $178 million in a Series B funding round, the largest private investment to date for a company focused on building industrial quantum processors. The funding will accelerate development of the company’s VIO-40K architecture, a processor designed to reach 10,000 qubits, a scale 100 times greater than current technology. Central to this expansion is KiloFab, a new fabrication facility intended to increase QuantWare’s production capacity by 20 times, addressing a critical challenge in scaling quantum computing. “The round follows our announcement of VIO-40K…and funds the next phase of our mission: delivering the world’s most powerful quantum processors at scale,” QuantWare stated, emphasizing a commitment to innovation and industrial-level production of quantum computing components.
$178 Million Series B Funds Hyperscale Processor Development
The VIO-40K architecture is designed to achieve 10,000 qubits, a significant increase over current technology. QuantWare distinguishes itself as the only firm currently designing, fabricating, and integrating modular quantum processors on an open architecture at an industrial level; their VIO technology aims to maximize compute power per Watt. The company stated that “VIO is available to the entire industry, enabling the global quantum supply chain to scale,” emphasizing their commitment to an open ecosystem. New investors including Intel Capital, IQT, and ETF Partners join existing backers in this latest round. The company’s ambitions extend beyond processor design to delivering functional quantum processors at a scale previously unattainable, and they anticipate broad industry impact from their open architecture approach.
The establishment of KiloFab represents a concrete step toward resolving a critical bottleneck in quantum computing: manufacturing. QuantWare anticipates a 20-fold increase in production with this facility. The company’s ability to both develop the architecture and manufacture the processors internally provides a significant advantage in controlling the supply chain and accelerating development timelines. This investment will fund the next phase of QuantWare’s mission, solidifying its position as a key player in the rapidly evolving quantum field.
We are proud to announce our $178M (€152M) Series B, the largest private round raised by a dedicated industrial quantum processor company to date.
