Jij Inc to host Quantum World Congress 2026 startup pitch competition

JIJ Inc. has been selected as a finalist in the Quantum Startup Pitch Competition at Quantum World Congress 2026, placing the Tokyo-based firm among a select group presenting to industry leaders and investors. Steven Gibson, President of the Americas at JIJ, will pitch the company’s approach, applying mathematical optimization, AI, and quantum computing, on September 23, 2026, at The Hotel at the University of Maryland, Quantum World Congress 2026 says.

JIJ will also present its work at the Japan Pavilion, organized by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), during the September 23-25 conference. Founded in 2018, JIJ develops and deploys quantum annealing and hybrid algorithms for Japanese businesses, and recently secured $5.2 million in funding led by Global Brain to expand its AI-enabled platform.

JIJ Selected as Finalist in QWC 2026 Startup Competition

JIJ will showcase an evolution of its Qamomile platform, recently updated to version 0.14.0 on August 3, 2026, transforming it from a quantum optimization library into a comprehensive Python-based environment for developing diverse quantum algorithms. This expansion reflects a strategic move to broaden applicability beyond strictly optimization tasks, enabling developers to build and test a wider range of quantum solutions.

This investment coincides with a strategic partnership established with Kobe Steel on July 2, 2026, to create a multi-year Quantum Center of Excellence focused on integrating quantum computing into materials, production, and process optimization within the KOBELCO Group. Gibson stated that JIJ aims to translate research into tangible industrial applications and solidify its position within the rapidly evolving quantum landscape.

Rusty is a quantum science nerd. He's been into academic science all his life, but spent his formative years doing less academic things. Now he turns his attention to write about his passion, the quantum realm. He loves all things Quantum Physics especially. Rusty likes the more esoteric side of Quantum Computing and the Quantum world. Everything from Quantum Entanglement to Quantum Physics. Rusty thinks that we are in the 1950s quantum equivalent of the classical computing world. While other quantum journalists focus on IBM's latest chip or which startup just raised $50 million, Rusty's over here writing 3,000-word deep dives on whether quantum entanglement might explain why you sometimes think about someone right before they text you. (Spoiler: it doesn't, but the exploration is fascinating)
