Quantum Catalyzer Relocates To The University Of Maryland'S Discovery District Office

Quantum Catalyzer, a US-based quantum company lowering the barriers to entry for quantum technology, has relocated to 5825 University Research Court, Suite 2200 – a new office space at the University of Maryland’s Discovery District, Maryland. The new space accords Q-Cat 4,000 square feet of newly renovated lab and office space.

“Q-Cat is growing rapidly and needs high-quality facilities for further success. The new space in the Discovery District is a perfect fit to Q-Cat’s needs.”

Dr. Ronald Walsworth, Q-Cat founder and Director of the University of Maryland’s Quantum Technology Center

Q-Cat aims to establish and expand successful quantum businesses, moving high-impact technology from academia into the real world. To that end, Q-Cat shares staff, experience, and crucial resources with its portfolio firms, such as the Discovery District’s cutting-edge lab and office space. They have established four quantum companies specializing in green energy generation, futuristic microelectronics applications, and specialized research and instructional tools at a large scale.

“We are thrilled that Q-Cat has joined other successful companies in the Discovery District. Quantum continues to be a growing strength of the University, and Q-Cat’s unique focus on commercialization of quantum technology will result in many more quantum spin-outs, solidifying the Discovery District as a national hub of quantum,”

Ken Ulman, UMD’s Chief Strategy Officer for Economic Development.

Significant quantum activity in Maryland and Prince George’s County contributes to the region’s status as the “Capital of Quantum.” The Discovery District, a 150-acre University of Maryland research campus, provides world-class services and spaces for businesses of all sizes. Over 6,500 staff from over 60 government agencies, commercial firms, and charitable groups are on the premises.

“We are excited to bring the best ideas in quantum science to the market as useful technologies, specifically in our new home in the Discovery District.”
