SEALSQ Corp (NASDAQ: LAES) and WISeSat unveiled their commercial Quantum Spatial Orbital Cloud (QSOC) initiative at the International Space Summit in Paris, establishing space as a critical layer for the developing quantum internet. The program combines WISeSat’s satellite constellation with SEALSQ’s post-quantum semiconductors and identity-management technologies, with plans for up to 100 satellites by 2033. WISeKey International Holding Ltd (SIX: WIHN, NASDAQ: WKEY) owns WISeSat, supporting the development of secure orbital infrastructure.
SEALSQ and WISeSat Launch Commercial Quantum Spatial Orbital Cloud (QSOC)
The Quantum Spatial Orbital Cloud, or QSOC, aims to deliver secure communications and post-quantum identity services from space to sectors including government, defense, and finance. This initiative addresses the growing threat quantum computing poses to existing cryptographic systems protecting global communications and infrastructure. SEALSQ intends to operate the security and cloud-services layer, utilizing its quantum-resistant in-silicon cryptographic semiconductor technology, while WISeSat will focus on providing and operating the underlying space infrastructure.
This division of labor allows SEALSQ to commercialize subscription-based quantum-security services without the full capital expenditure of satellite ownership, and enables WISeSat to concentrate on developing secure orbital capabilities, the company says. The structure is intended to support certified quantum randomness and post-quantum identity services delivered from space. Carlos Moreira, Chairman and CEO of SEALSQ, emphasized the strategic importance of combining post-quantum security with sovereign satellite infrastructure.
Moreira continued, “The quantum internet will not be exclusively terrestrial. Space will become an essential layer for distributing trusted identities, cryptographic keys and quantum-generated randomness across borders.” The company anticipates QSOC will complement existing national and regional quantum-communications programs, offering commercial access to scalable, managed post-quantum security. The presentation in Paris coincides with increasing global focus on sovereign space capabilities and the protection of critical communications systems.
By establishing a geographically distributed and resilient security layer in orbit, SEALSQ and WISeSat aim to create a more robust and sovereign global communications architecture. “SEALSQ and WISeSat are combining semiconductor security, post-quantum cryptography, PKI and satellite operations into an integrated commercial platform. Our objective is to make QSOC the orbital trust infrastructure protecting governments, financial systems, defense networks and critical industries as the world enters the quantum era,” Moreira stated. Deployment of the QSOC constellation remains contingent on technical validation, regulatory approvals, launch availability, financing, commercial agreements, and final corporate approvals.
Presenting QSOC at the International Space Summit in Paris demonstrates that post-quantum security and sovereign satellite infrastructure must now be addressed as a single strategic priority.
