Vietnam gets its first quantum computer with Quandela’s MosaiQ

Quang Trung University in Quy Nhơn, Gia Lai will soon house Vietnam’s first quantum computer, a MosaiQ system from European firm Quandela, establishing a France-Vietnam collaboration in quantum computing. The project is supported by Nam A Bank, which invests in quantum technology “to help build high-tech capabilities in Vietnam through strong and effective cooperation with French organizations,” according to Deputy CEO Võ Hoàng Hải.

This partnership, formalized during the France-Vietnam Leaders Forum will also launch a new quantum research, innovation, service and entrepreneurship program. Quandela’s Director of Institutional Affairs & Public Policy, Marine Xech-Gaspa, states the company is “very proud to see its strategic partnership with Quanova already materialize.”

MosaiQ Quantum Computer Deployed for Vietnamese Research & Education

The installation of Quandela’s MosaiQ photonic quantum computer at Quang Trung University signifies Vietnam’s first quantum computing capability. This deployment, formalized through a partnership between Quandela and Vietnamese firm Quanova, establishes a foundation for advanced research and education in the Gia Lai province. The project extends beyond simply providing hardware; it encompasses faculty training and the creation of dedicated quantum curricula for Vietnamese students.

Nam A Bank’s financial support is directly enabling the development of this quantum ecosystem, with the bank investing in core technologies to bolster Vietnam’s high-tech sector. Provision of the software suite and support for the creation of a Quantum Experience Center and launch of the Quantum Innovator Residency Program are also included.

The official announcement of the partnership and deployment occurred in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of October 21, 2026, with representatives for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in attendance. Étienne Ranaivoson, Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City, welcomed the initiative, stating: “As part of the first French delegation dedicated to quantum technologies in Vietnam, I welcome Quandela’s commitment, which is enabling Vietnam to acquire its first quantum computer—a symbol of the trust uniting our two countries in the technologies of the future.” The event emphasised the shared commitment between France and Vietnam to encouraging sovereign capabilities in quantum technologies. Beyond the hardware itself, the partnership prioritizes the development of local expertise, laying the foundations for a lasting quantum ecosystem that will support education, research and innovation in Vietnam.

Rusty is a quantum science nerd. He's been into academic science all his life, but spent his formative years doing less academic things. Now he turns his attention to write about his passion, the quantum realm. He loves all things Quantum Physics especially. Rusty likes the more esoteric side of Quantum Computing and the Quantum world. Everything from Quantum Entanglement to Quantum Physics. Rusty thinks that we are in the 1950s quantum equivalent of the classical computing world. While other quantum journalists focus on IBM's latest chip or which startup just raised $50 million, Rusty's over here writing 3,000-word deep dives on whether quantum entanglement might explain why you sometimes think about someone right before they text you. (Spoiler: it doesn't, but the exploration is fascinating)
