Roberto Mauro to lead Pasqal’s quantum product strategy now

Pasqal (NASDAQ: PSQL) has appointed Roberto Mauro as Chief Product Officer, signaling a sharpened focus on commercializing its neutral-atom quantum computing technology. Mauro will lead Pasqal’s end-to-end product strategy, integrating hardware, software, and cloud services to meet customer needs. The move comes as the company, founded in 2019, scales operations following its recent listing on Nasdaq and expands internationally. “Pasqal’s ability to translate scientific leadership into meaningful customer outcomes will depend on the strength of both our products and our organization,” said CEO Wasiq Bokhari.

Roberto Mauro Leads Pasqal’s Quantum Product Strategy

Roberto Mauro will prioritize customer outcomes as Pasqal’s newly appointed Chief Product Officer, a shift signaled by the company’s recent Nasdaq listing as PSQL and expansion into international markets. Since joining Pasqal in January 2024, Mauro focused on building the company’s presence in Asia-Pacific, securing funding, and fostering research collaborations, and he will now use this experience to define and deliver a cohesive product roadmap, the company says.

This focus extends beyond hardware to encompass software, cloud services, and integrated offerings designed to accelerate adoption of Pasqal’s neutral-atom quantum computing systems. Pasqal’s commitment to scaling operations is further reinforced by the appointment of Joëlle Lumb as Chief Human Resources Officer, tasked with organizational transformation and leadership development.

Lumb’s previous roles at NielsenIQ and Nielsen involved overseeing people strategies across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and other international markets, experience that is important for Pasqal’s ambitions beyond its French headquarters and deployments in France, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Canada. The company’s recent business combination with Bleichroeder Acquisition Corp, completed on August 28, 2026, underscores the need for robust organizational structures to support its public market presence.

Mauro’s background includes two decades at Samsung, leading technology investments and partnerships in data, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies, demonstrating a history of bridging the gap between research and commercialization. He has worked in quantum technology since 2019, providing a foundation for understanding the unique challenges and opportunities within the field. “Pasqal’s research and development organization is strong, and our opportunity is to complement that strength with a product organization built around customers and the outcomes that matter most to them,” said Roberto.

Lumb’s expertise in organizational design, culture, and leadership development will be essential in fostering an inclusive environment capable of supporting Pasqal’s growth. “Pasqal is bringing together exceptional scientific, engineering and commercial talent to build a transformative technology company,” said Joëlle.

“My priority will be to help create the leadership capabilities, organizational clarity and inclusive culture that enable our people to do their best work and support Pasqal’s successful growth across markets.” The company, founded in 2019 and now employing approximately 275 people, has raised over €440 million, funding that will be instrumental in realizing its ambitious product and organizational goals, according to Pasqal.

Mauro holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and an MBA from IMD, while Lumb holds an executive master’s degree in human resources from ESSEC Business School and an engineering degree in agronomy from ENSAR.

Pasqal’s research and development organization is world-class, and our opportunity is to complement that strength with a product organization built around customers and the outcomes that matter most to them.

Ivy Delaney has been working with neural networks and machine learning since the mid-nineties, back when a couple of hidden layers and a long afternoon of training counted as ambitious. She has watched the field go from academic curiosity to the thing quietly running underneath everything, and she brings that long view to quantum computing. For Quantum Zeitgeist she covers the ground where the two fields meet. That means quantum machine learning and the variational algorithms it leans on, and it also means the less glamorous but more interesting story of classical machine learning already doing real work inside quantum machines, decoding error-correcting codes, calibrating noisy hardware and learning the error models that simulators depend on. She writes about the hardware those algorithms have to run on too, and about the post-quantum cryptography scramble that the same hardware has set off. Her stories typically start with the paper, whether that is peer-reviewed work, conference proceedings or an arXiv preprint, with the source linked so you can hold a claim up against the research it came from. She is unimpressed by benchmarks that will not say what they beat, and by demonstrations that only work in the press release.
