Versasec has released vSEC:CMS 7.5, a credential management system engineered to support post-quantum cryptography hardware security modules (HSMs) validated with leading technology vendors. The new version also integrates natively with Thales SafeNet Authentication Service Private Cloud Edition, allowing organizations to manage FIDO2 Passkeys within that specific cloud environment. Addressing the challenges of biometric token deployment, vSEC:CMS 7.5 now offers automated lifecycle management for YubiKey Bio Series Multi-protocol Edition devices.
“Enterprise IT teams are tasked with two critical mandates: laying the groundwork for post-quantum cryptographic resilience and eliminating the day-to-day administrative burden of managing diverse authentication fleets,” said Joakim Thorén, CEO of Versasec. “With vSEC:CMS 7.5, we deliver on both fronts.”
Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) HSM Support With industry standards rapidly moving toward quantum-resistant algorithms
Version 7.5 of vSEC:CMS now supports post-quantum cryptography hardware security modules (HSMs), a proactive step taken in anticipation of evolving industry standards. Versasec collaborated with leading technology vendors to validate these PQC HSMs, enabling organizations to begin planning the complex migration of critical cryptographic infrastructure, the company says. The system allows for a smooth upgrade to quantum-safe HSMs, protecting keys and maintaining operational continuity during the transition.
Versasec identity specialists are available to help organizations design and implement customized post-quantum transition roadmaps, addressing the challenges of certificate authorities, credentials and root keys. The release addresses a growing need for quantum-resistant security as standards shift toward algorithms capable of withstanding attacks from future quantum computers. Organizations can use vSEC:CMS 7.5 to upgrade their HSMs without interrupting daily operations, a critical consideration for maintaining service availability.
Thales SAS PCE Integration
VSEC:CMS 7.5 extends its identity ecosystem with native support for Thales SafeNet Authentication Service Private Cloud Edition (SAS PCE). This integration is tailored for regulated and defense industries, and organizations with strict data residency or air-gapped requirements.
It enables IT administrators to bind device-bound passkeys directly to their on-premises Thales identity platform, resulting in centralized credential control and streamlined policy enforcement without compromising localized security perimeters, according to Versasec. This capability complements the system’s expanded support for cryptography hardware security modules, positioning Versasec as a provider focused on both immediate security needs and future-proofing against emerging threats.
Enterprise Scale for YubiKey Bio Series, Multi-protocol Edition
Automated lifecycle management within vSEC:CMS 7.5 now extends specifically to the YubiKey Bio Multi-protocol Edition, a hardware token capable of storing up to twelve PIV smart card certificates alongside FIDO2/WebAuthn credentials, all secured by a single fingerprint scan. This functionality addresses the administrative complexity of managing fleets of biometric authentication devices, moving beyond generalized token support to focus on the unique capabilities of YubiKey Bio.
The system integrates with YubiKey as a Service (YaaS), enabling zero-touch remote deployment of hardware directly to employees, streamlining initial rollout and reducing IT intervention, the company says. Beyond deployment, vSEC:CMS 7.5 intelligently archives superseded decryption keys to dedicated backup slots, eliminating manual certificate renewals and rotations. The system’s expanded capabilities aim to alleviate both challenges simultaneously, offering a centralized platform for credential lifecycle management.
Versasec positions this release as a step toward scalable, high-assurance biometric hardware deployments, providing tools to manage the increasing complexity of modern authentication systems. The software is available immediately to existing customers with active maintenance agreements and for new enterprise evaluations, allowing organizations to begin planning for a transition to more robust security protocols.
