RCQI and CyberSecurityHubCZ co-hosted quantum CEQIP 2026

Leevi Leppäjärvi won the Best Poster Prize at the Central European Quantum Information Processing workshop (CEQIP) 2026 for his work titled “Adversarial Information Gain in Non-Ideal Quantum Measurements.” The annual event, co-hosted by the Research Center for Quantum Information and CyberSecurityHubCZ, recently concluded its 21st edition in Mikulov, Czech Republic, establishing itself as a prominent event within the quantum information community after more than two decades. This year’s program also featured tutorials led by Ivan Šupić on self-testing in quantum information theory and Karen Hovhannisyan on Quantum work and its measurement.

RCQI and CyberSecurityHubCZ Co-Host 21st CEQIP Quantum Workshop

Hosted from September 14th to 17th in Mikulov, Czech Republic, the workshop brought together researchers focused on quantum information and its related disciplines. The event represents over two decades of collaboration between the Research Center for Quantum Information (RCQI) of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and Czech colleagues from CyberSecurityHubCZ in Brno. This year’s program included tutorials led by experts in specialized areas of quantum information theory, demonstrating a commitment to addressing complex, foundational challenges within the field and fostering deeper understanding among participants.

Invited speakers such as Augustin Vanrietvelde, Vedran Dunjko, Teiko Heinosaari, Peter Staňo, and Francesco Cosco broadened the scope of discussion, covering a diverse range of topics in quantum information and computing. Beyond formal presentations, CEQIP maintained its tradition of a poster session, allowing researchers to share ongoing work in an informal setting. As a result of this recognition, Leppäjärvi is scheduled to present a contributed talk at the next CEQIP workshop, continuing the event’s practice of elevating promising early-career research, the company says.

The event also incorporated social activities, including a wine tasting, conference dinner, and opportunities designed to encourage networking and collaboration among attendees. Organizers from RCQI and QUTE. sk, including Radka Hovorková, Arash Ghoreishi, Mirka Šebestová, and Mário Ziman, facilitated the workshop’s success, alongside all invited speakers and participants.

Ivy Delaney has been working with neural networks and machine learning since the mid-nineties, back when a couple of hidden layers and a long afternoon of training counted as ambitious. She has watched the field go from academic curiosity to the thing quietly running underneath everything, and she brings that long view to quantum computing. For Quantum Zeitgeist she covers the ground where the two fields meet. That means quantum machine learning and the variational algorithms it leans on, and it also means the less glamorous but more interesting story of classical machine learning already doing real work inside quantum machines, decoding error-correcting codes, calibrating noisy hardware and learning the error models that simulators depend on. She writes about the hardware those algorithms have to run on too, and about the post-quantum cryptography scramble that the same hardware has set off. Her stories typically start with the paper, whether that is peer-reviewed work, conference proceedings or an arXiv preprint, with the source linked so you can hold a claim up against the research it came from. She is unimpressed by benchmarks that will not say what they beat, and by demonstrations that only work in the press release.
