QAI Ventures, a Swiss ecosystem builder and venture capital firm, is expanding into North America by launching Calgary’s first quantum accelerator in partnership with Quantum City, an initiative of the University of Calgary. This expansion aims to bridge European and Canadian markets, fostering innovation and economic transformation through quantum technologies. The program will kick off on March 10 at the qHub in Calgary, featuring a cohort of five startups, including a direct spin-off from UCalgary, showcasing academic-business collaboration.

QAI Ventures has partnered with the University of Calgary to launch an accelerator program to foster innovation in quantum technology. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between European and North American markets by leveraging Canada’s growing reputation as a global hub for quantum innovation, supported by the country’s $360 million National Quantum Strategy.

Calgary’s strategic choice as the North American base for this accelerator is based on its robust research funding, innovation-driven economy, and thriving startup ecosystem. With over $500 million in venture capital secured in 2023, the city is an ideal location for scaling and commercializing quantum technologies.

The official launch event on March 10th will introduce the first cohort of five startups, including a direct spin-off from the University of Calgary. These startups are focused on advancing quantum computing, AI, and advanced computing, with the goal of driving innovation and sustainable growth across various industries.

This expansion underscores QAI Ventures’ commitment to supporting early-stage companies in the quantum technology sector, providing them with access to cutting-edge technology, expert mentorship, and strategic market entry into both Europe and North America.
