SEALSQ’s ICAlps creates a platform for quantum-resistant semiconductors

SEALSQ is advancing its QASIC initiative through IC’Alps, its French ASIC design subsidiary, to create quantum-resistant semiconductors. QASIC initially focuses on the cybersecurity, medical, and automotive sectors, embedding SEALSQ’s post-quantum security directly into customer-owned semiconductor architectures. “Cybersecurity, medical devices and automotive systems are among the sectors with the greatest need for long-term, hardware-based protection,” said Carlos Moreira, CEO of SEALSQ. This platform extends from secure architecture and reusable IP to certified manufacturing and complete lifecycle management, offering a sovereign solution for critical infrastructures.

ICAlps Advances QASIC for Sovereign, Quantum-Resistant ASICs

IC’Alps, SEALSQ’s French ASIC design subsidiary, is central to a new initiative focused on creating sovereign, quantum-resistant semiconductors, demonstrating a strategic emphasis on European semiconductor expertise and localized control over critical technology. The company is developing QASIC, an application-specific integrated circuit platform intended to embed post-quantum security directly into specialized semiconductor architectures owned by its customers, rather than offering off-the-shelf solutions, SEALSQ says. This bespoke approach caters to clients with unique security needs and stringent requirements for data protection.

IC’Alps leverages its capabilities in RISC-V-based SoC infrastructure, functional safety, and embedded memory to address the demanding requirements of these markets, alongside partners like TSMC, GlobalFoundries, and STMicroelectronics. The QASIC initiative extends beyond a single product, functioning as an integrated platform encompassing secure architecture, reusable intellectual property, certified manufacturing, and complete lifecycle support.

Jean-Luc Triouleyre, General Manager of IC’Alps, explains that “the strength of QASIC is its ability to translate advanced post-quantum technologies into specialized and manufacturable semiconductor solutions.” This multidisciplinary expertise in digital, analog, and mixed-signal design allows the company to meet stringent security, safety, performance, power consumption, and certification standards. SEALSQ and IC’Alps are currently progressing toward a first QASIC prototype expected in 2026, which will demonstrate the integration of post-quantum security into custom semiconductor architectures while maintaining critical application parameters.

This development is part of SEALSQ’s broader Quantum Corridor, an international ecosystem connecting semiconductor engineering, cybersecurity, and post-quantum capabilities across Switzerland, France, Spain, the United States, Korea, and the United Arab Emirates. Through this network, SEALSQ aims to provide access to sovereign, quantum-resistant semiconductor solutions, facilitating the transition from conventional cryptography to the post-quantum era and ensuring long-term data security for its customers.
