qBraid platform unlocks quantum access for 35,000 developers via MIMIQ emulation

More than 35,000 developers now have access to quantum circuit emulation at a scale previously limited by standard simulators. qBraid, a cloud platform for quantum software development, has integrated MIMIQ, a technology from QPerfect that can run circuits with up to thousands of qubits and millions of gates. The integration provides a pathway to validate algorithms and study noise effects at larger scales.

MIMIQ Emulation Extends qBraid Platform to Thousands of Qubits

The connection between qBraid and MIMIQ is facilitated by a provider plugin released under the Apache License 2.0, built upon QPerfect’s open-source mimiqcircuits-python library, and allows users to submit circuits through qBraid Runtime via a managed API without needing to establish any MIMIQ infrastructure. This streamlined access is intended to accelerate development within qBraid’s existing user base, which already uses the platform’s AI and agentic tools for building and testing quantum workloads.

“Developers are designing circuits too large for exact statevector emulation, and they need to test them before hardware time is available. qBraid’s community already builds and tests quantum software on the platform, and MIMIQ is now accessible with just a few lines of code.” The integration of MIMIQ addresses a critical bottleneck in quantum software development, as memory requirements for state-vector simulation double with each added qubit.

By employing Matrix Product States, MIMIQ mitigates this issue, though its effectiveness relies on limiting entanglement within the simulated circuit, qBraid says. The ability to explore circuits beyond the reach of exact statevector emulation, while controlling truncation error, offers developers a powerful tool for refining algorithms and preparing them for deployment on actual quantum hardware.

qBraid and QPerfect Integrate MIMIQ via Managed API Access

This expansion in emulation capacity is facilitated by qBraid’s managed API, providing users with access to MIMIQ without requiring any infrastructure setup. QPerfect CEO Philippe Blot explained the significance of this collaboration, stating, “At QPerfect we build the full software stack quantum teams need to get from algorithm to hardware, and emulation at scale is one essential step on that path.” The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of BTQ Technologies, specializes in quantum computing and quantum design automation, drawing on expertise in neutral atom physics and quantum optics.

This focus on a complete software stack reflects a broader industry trend toward providing developers with end-to-end tools, from algorithm design to hardware execution, and MIMIQ’s integration into qBraid addresses a critical need for large-scale testing before allocating valuable hardware time.

The qBraid platform itself offers access to quantum hardware from multiple providers, high-performance simulators and on-demand compute resources, all through a single open-source software development kit. According to qBraid, this capability is particularly valuable as developers increasingly work at scales that exceed the limits of exact simulation, and as AI-driven automation becomes more prevalent in quantum software development.

Developers on qBraid are increasingly working at scales that exact simulation can’t reach, and many of them now build alongside AI agents that design, test, and iterate on circuits for them.
