QoreChain Ships First Layer-1 With NIST Post-Quantum Security

QoreChain Association has launched the first Layer-1 blockchain incorporating finalized National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) post-quantum cryptography standards, FIPS 203 and FIPS 204, across its entire production testnet. The Swiss nonprofit, registered under CHE-484.963.998, completed eight years of self-funded development to proactively address the “Harvest Now, Decrypt Later” threat, where recorded blockchain data could be forged with the advent of sufficiently powerful quantum computers. Unlike competitors planning for post-quantum security in the future, QoreChain’s implementation utilizes Dilithium-5 and Kyber-1024 algorithms for quantum-safe signatures and hashing. This launch, with a second-quarter 2026 mainnet target, also introduces an AI-native consensus mechanism and a unified virtual machine capable of executing contracts from Ethereum, Cosmos, and Solana. The native QOR token powers on-chain artificial intelligence services and staking rewards are issued from a bounded, declining emission schedule within the cap, with approximately 721 million QOR representing the initial circulating supply against a total supply cap of 4.5 billion.

The increasing threat of quantum computing to existing cryptographic systems has prompted a proactive response from QoreChain Association, which has become the first Layer-1 blockchain to fully implement the NIST FIPS 203 and 204 post-quantum cryptography standards across its production testnet. Specifically, QoreChain utilizes Dilithium-5, a NIST Category-5 signature algorithm designated as Federal Information Processing Standard 204, for signing transactions, while key exchange relies on Kyber-1024, published as FIPS 203. The project also employs SHAKE-256 for hashing, ensuring these processes do not depend on elliptic-curve mathematics susceptible to quantum attacks. This eight-year, self-funded development effort distinguishes QoreChain from many blockchain initiatives reliant on initial coin offerings for capital.

Founder Liviu Epure emphasizes the immediacy of the quantum threat, stating that “The threat to current blockchain signatures from quantum computers is arithmetic, not speculation.” He explains that once capable machines arrive, transactions signed with current cryptography will be retroactively forgeable, positioning QoreChain as a solution prepared for the next decade of blockchain technology. The testnet, currently live with 47 genesis modules and all three virtual machines, offers public access to a validator dashboard and source code for review, demonstrating a commitment to transparency and open development.

PRISM Consensus Optimizes Block Ordering via Reinforcement Learning

Current blockchain consensus mechanisms often rely on predictable, potentially inefficient, block ordering; however, QoreChain is introducing a novel approach with PRISM, a reinforcement-learning consensus optimizer designed to dynamically improve network performance. PRISM, which stands for Policy-driven Reinforcement-learning for Intelligent State Machines, moves beyond static rules by continuously analyzing chain state to refine block ordering, mempool prioritization, and gas metering. This adaptive system represents a significant departure from traditional methods, potentially unlocking greater transaction throughput and reduced network congestion. The integration of artificial intelligence into consensus is priced through three tiers, Fast, Balanced, and Advanced, utilizing the native QOR token, creating a direct economic incentive for leveraging AI-driven optimization. QoreChain validators benefit from multiple revenue streams, including standard block rewards, attestation fees from operating bridge watcher nodes across 25 connected Layer-1 networks, and validation of AI service requests priced in QOR.

Projections suggest that cross-network operations will contribute approximately 60 percent of total validator revenue at network maturity, demonstrating a commitment to interoperability and a diversified economic model. Staking rewards are issued from a bounded, declining emission schedule within the cap, aiming to provide a resilient infrastructure prepared for the future of blockchain technology, rather than relying on reactive measures.
