Dhanashree Boopathy sought an IC design program offering “the full puzzle, not just the corner pieces,” ultimately finding that breadth at Aalto University in Finland. The program equipped her with skills spanning digital, analogue, mixed-signal and RF design, preparing her for an industry role that aligned with her interests before she even made a formal connection at SemiQon.
The company had advertised a position matching Boopathy’s profile, a fortunate alignment she describes as feeling like “check, check, check, check.” Boopathy joins SemiQon to contribute to the emerging field of cryogenic electronics, drawn by the opportunity to build something genuinely new alongside a team supporting a culture of trust.
IC Design Background Drives Dhanashree Boopathy to SemiQon
Before formally connecting with anyone at SemiQon, Dhanashree Boopathy discovered a job advertisement that precisely aligned with her skillset, a proactive recruitment strategy she describes as fortuitous. Boopathy completed her bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Instrumentation in Chennai, India, before pursuing advanced IC design studies first in the Netherlands and then at Aalto University in Finland. This international educational path reflects a deliberate focus on building a comprehensive foundation in the field.
“I felt that my role would really make a difference, and at the same time, there would be a lot of room to grow,” she explains, highlighting her desire for both impact and professional development. The appeal of SemiQon extended beyond the job description itself.
Boopathy appreciated the company’s direct and efficient interview process, which reinforced her belief that it was a place where she could thrive. She also expressed excitement about contributing to the development of cryogenic electronics and IC technologies, a field she views as genuinely new. “In traditional IC designing, a lot of development happened before I even knew what IC designing was. We learn it as history.
Now with cryogenic electronics and IC technologies, we’re developing something very, very new. I’m happy that I’m getting to be a part of something that’s starting to slowly take shape and become something tangible.” Boopathy describes herself as “not a physics person,” but welcomes the chance to combine her IC design expertise with quantum technology.

Cryogenic Electronics Role Offers Growth at SemiQon
SemiQon advertised a role aligning with Dhanashree Boopathy’s skillset around the time she heard about the company through Md, a former Aalto University PhD student. The efficiency of SemiQon’s interview process further solidified her impression of a well-organized and decisive organization. Boopathy’s decision to join SemiQon was also driven by the potential for professional development within a rapidly evolving field, anticipating significant opportunities for learning and advancement given the limited number of specialists currently working in cryogenic electronics.
She also noted the importance of a supportive company culture, stating, “I think that maintaining a culture of trust is important because that also gives room for the employee to grow.”
Reading through the requirements, I felt like saying, ‘check, check, check, check’.
