Neuromorphyx builds a board for BrainChip’s AKD1500 AI chip

Neuromorphyx, a Croatian deep-tech company, is manufacturing the BrainBoard1500, a new developer board built around BrainChip’s AKD1500 neural-network accelerator. The compact board offers an Arduino-compatible form factor and open-source drivers, designed to bring neuromorphic AI to embedded systems and edge devices. “BrainBoard1500 is exactly the kind of partner-led product that extends Akida’s reach into developer communities,” said BrainChip CEO Sean Hehir, signaling a push to broaden access to the company’s technology, listed on the ASX as BRN, alongside OTCQX: BRCHF and BCHPY.

Neuromorphyx BrainBoard1500 Enables AKD1500 Embedded AI Development

This partnership expands the availability of neuromorphic AI silicon to a wider range of developers and embedded AI applications. The BrainBoard1500 provides a direct embedded interface for assessing the AKD1500 under realistic power and size constraints, unlike larger evaluation hardware. BrainChip CEO Sean Hehir explained that partnering with Neuromorphyx puts the AKD1500 in the hands of developers and makers in a familiar form factor and software ecosystem.

Neuromorphyx also created the board’s software path, including drivers and integration with the Akida Engine. Neuromorphyx CEO Ivan Projić stated that the BrainBoard1500 extends that work by making the AKD1500 easier to combine with existing Arduino Nicla boards and software. BrainChip will support AI model repositories targeting applications like keyword spotting and human activity recognition, and the BrainBoard1500 is initially available through the Neuromorphyx store.
