QAI Ventures backs over 35 quantum and compute startups

QAI Ventures is lowering the barrier to entry for quantum and advanced computing investments, now accepting funding from investors with as little as USD 25’000. The Basel-headquartered venture capital firm, which currently holds a portfolio of over 35 companies spanning quantum computing and high-performance computing, has partnered with iAccess Partners to simplify the investment process.

“The question is not whether quantum technologies will create value – but who has access to that value early,” says Alexandra Beckstein, CEO of QAI Ventures, emphasizing the importance of early selection in this rapidly developing market. This collaboration aims to open access to an asset class previously reserved for large institutional investors.

QAI Ventures and iAccess Partners Enable Access to Quantum Venture Capital

QAI Ventures, headquartered in Basel with offices spanning Canada, Japan, and Singapore, is broadening investment access to quantum and advanced computing through a new partnership. The venture capital firm currently maintains a portfolio exceeding 35 companies focused on areas including quantum computing, sensing, and communications, alongside high-performance computing and semiconductor technologies.

This strategic collaboration with iAccess Partners aims to lower the financial barrier for qualified investors seeking exposure to early-stage ventures in these rapidly developing fields. Previously requiring substantial minimum investments typical of venture capital, QAI Ventures’ latest fund is now accessible with a commitment of just USD 25’000. iAccess Partners facilitates this access by enabling investments through standard securities accounts via bankable ISINs, mirroring the process used for publicly traded assets.

This streamlined approach intends to democratize participation in an asset class historically dominated by large institutional investors like pension funds and insurance companies, all increasingly interested in the potential of quantum technology and artificial intelligence. Beckstein emphasizes the importance of early selection within the quantum market, citing fewer than 1’000 companies globally and lengthy development cycles requiring specialized diligence.

Nicolas Werner, Partner at iAccess Partners, notes that quantum and advanced computing are transitioning from research to commercial applications, with the venture stage offering significant value creation, but previously remaining largely inaccessible to private investors. The partnership seeks to combine QAI Ventures’ specialized deal flow with iAccess Partners’ efficient investment processes, opening opportunities for a wider range of investors.
