NordForsk reports that Nordic research groups are participating in half of the applications for a new international quantum technologies funding call. The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada received 186 applications by the deadline, with 93 including partners from Nordic nations. Bjørnar Komissar, special adviser at NordForsk, says that NordForsk is happy to see that 50 percent of the submitted proposals include Nordic participation. This initiative offers Nordic quantum research groups a chance to collaborate and build international networks with leading researchers.
Nordic Consortiums Comprise Half of Quantum Technology Proposals
Nordic research groups requested 7 million Norwegian kroner in funding per project through the G7-Nordic call for quantum technologies, the maximum amount stipulated by NordForsk for Nordic partners. This level of Nordic involvement reflects a strategic push to bolster regional quantum research, according to Bjørnar Komissar, special adviser at NordForsk, who is responsible for the initiative.
The call requires consortiums to demonstrate collaboration between at least two Nordic countries, alongside partnerships with researchers from G7 nations, supporting both regional and international networks and accelerating progress in quantum technologies through shared resources and expertise, which will position Nordic researchers to contribute significantly to the field’s advancement and strengthen ties with leading global institutions.
