Quantum eMotion files for NIST validation of its entropy source

Quantum eMotion has submitted its eCore-Q PCIe Quantum Entropy Module for validation by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, following an independent assessment completed by Lightship Security Inc. The company made the submission through the Entropy Source Validation Test System, seeking conformance with NIST Special Publication 800-90B. This process confirms the quality of randomness generated by Quantum eMotion’s QRNG technology for use in secure systems. CEO Francis Bellido said that the submission is a technical milestone and advances efforts to provide independently validated quantum entropy for regulated applications.

eCore-Q Module Advances to NIST SP 800-90B Validation Process

Lightship Security Inc. utilized the Entropy Source Validation Test System as the pathway for submission, indicating a focused effort on achieving official certification under NIST guidelines. This process targets entropy source validation, as defined by NIST Special Publication 800-90B, rather than a broader evaluation of complete cryptographic modules.

The resulting Entropy Validation Certificate will support future FIPS 140-3 cryptographic-module submissions incorporating the validated entropy source, adhering to specific integration requirements. The validation process does not guarantee a successful outcome or a specific timeframe for review, but it is a foundational element in the development of a wider range of cybersecurity products.

This submission marks an important technical milestone for Quantum eMotion.
