Indra Group leads a nearly €20 million first close of Series A funding for Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, bolstering Spain’s position in the developing field of quantum computing. Indra Group invested €10 million through its IndraMind division, while the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT) contributed €9, the company says. Indra Group invests €10 million through IndraMind, while SETT renews its support with €9.6 million.
“Together, we are joining forces to bring quantum computing closer to strategic industrial sectors and to ensure that the quantum technology built in Spain continues to grow in Spain,” said the CEO of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech. The new capital will scale Qilimanjaro’s quantum computer production and advance chip development.
Indra Group Leads €20M Series A for Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech
Indra Group’s €10 million investment, channeled through its IndraMind division, anchors the €19.6 million first close of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech’s Series A funding round. The Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), under the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, has also renewed its commitment to the company with a new investment of €9.6 million. Qilimanjaro anticipates finalizing the Series An in the final quarter of the year, with additional funding expected from Avançsa and current investors.
The influx of capital will directly support the scaling and industrialization of Qilimanjaro’s quantum computers, alongside advancements in the development of chips. This expansion aims to increase the company’s manufacturing and deployment capabilities, strengthening Spain’s technological position within the rapidly evolving quantum computing landscape. SETT’s continued investment, coupled with Indra’s participation, combines sovereign and industrial capital to encourage national technological autonomy.
Indra Group views this investment as a strategic move to solidify its position in the quantum computing field, expanding the capabilities of IndraMind to develop sovereign solutions for defense, security and industry. Indra Group states quantum computing will mark a decisive leap in the evolution of artificial intelligence and in its ability to solve problems of enormous complexity.
Enric Blasco, Director of Indra Group in Catalonia, highlighted how the transaction “helps advance our growth strategy in the region and strengthens our role as a driving force within its ecosystem of innovation, supercomputing and quantum technologies, which has made it one of Europe’s leading hubs in areas that are central to our company’s activity.” Founded in 2019, Qilimanjaro distinguishes itself as the sole Spanish company developing full-stack quantum computing solutions. The firm designs its own chips, software, and algorithms, integrating cryogenic and control electronics to construct complete quantum systems.
Currently, three Qilimanjaro quantum systems are integrated into the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, including the first analog quantum computer within a European High Performance Computing center. With a team of 80 employees representing over 22 nationalities, Qilimanjaro has deployed eight quantum systems and serves clients in sectors including energy, telecommunications, logistics, healthcare and finance, offering both on-premise systems and cloud access.
