The new U.S. Technology Hub taps into Southern California’s concentration of quantum talent and positions Diraq alongside leading technology companies. Los Angeles Hub Advances Silicon Spin Qubit Engineering
This investment signals a concentrated effort to advance this approach to quantum computing, leveraging the region’s established expertise in semiconductor technology. The Los Angeles hub’s personnel span integrated circuit design, software development, device modeling, and machine learning, creating a comprehensive skillset for tackling complex engineering challenges. This growth reflects confidence in the availability of skilled quantum engineers in Southern California and the potential for accelerating development timelines.
The hub will function as a key partner to Diraq’s existing center of excellence located in Sydney, Australia, combining strengths and streamlining the progression from research to commercially viable systems. The establishment of the Los Angeles hub supports Diraq’s broader strategy of scaling its silicon spin qubit technology.
Diraq’s processors utilize CMOS-compatible manufacturing processes, designed to integrate with existing semiconductor infrastructure and ultimately support millions of qubits on a single chip. “We’re working on some of the most exciting technology in computing today, and Southern California gives us an exceptional base of quantum engineering talent, particularly in silicon spin qubits, to help us build it,” Dzurak added. This hub will complement experimental research and development efforts in both Sydney and Chicago, strengthening the company’s ability to translate device-level advancements into fault-tolerant, practical quantum systems.
