Bluefors has completed the delivery of the KIDE cryogenic system to the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). The KIDE cryogenic system offers exceptional low-temperature performance, enabling advanced research in areas such as quantum computing and materials science. It provides cooling capabilities down to millikelvin temperatures, crucial for observing quantum phenomena. This delivery represents a significant advancement in the infrastructure available to AIST for cutting-edge scientific investigation.
Bluefors Delivers 18 Advanced Cryogenic Systems to Japan’s New Quantum Computing Center
Bluefors has successfully delivered and installed 18 cutting-edge cryogenic systems at Japan’s new Global Research and Development Center for Business by Quantum-AI Technology (G-QuAT), marking a significant milestone in large-scale quantum computing infrastructure. The center, located at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Tsukuba, officially opened on May 18, 2025.
The centerpiece of Bluefors’ delivery is the groundbreaking KIDE Cryogenic Platform—the world’s most powerful commercially-available cooling system for quantum computing. This revolutionary platform features comprehensive cryogenic measurement infrastructure capable of supporting quantum computers with over 1,000 qubits, representing unprecedented scale in quantum computing capabilities.
The installation of all 18 high-performance cryogenic measurement systems was completed in just six weeks, demonstrating Bluefors’ exceptional industrial capabilities and expertise. This rapid deployment equipped the G-QuAT center with fully operational systems ready for immediate quantum research and development.
“The delivery and installation of 18 cryogenic systems at the G-QuAT center is a great example of our ability to deliver premium quantum computing technology on an unparalleled industrial scale,” said Rob Blaauwgeers, Bluefors’ Interim CEO and Co-founder.
The G-QuAT center focuses on developing advanced convergence computational technology by integrating quantum and classical computing approaches. Its mission includes creating practical quantum computing applications, standardizing evaluation methods for high-performance materials, and advancing quantum device development to address critical economic and social challenges.
This achievement reinforces Bluefors’ position as a leader in cryogenic technology and demonstrates the company’s capacity to deliver quantum computing infrastructure at industrial scale.
