Quantrolox And Zurich Instruments Unite: Quantum Computing Control System Enhances Quantum Edge Performance

QuantrolOx, a Finnish company, and Zurich Instruments, a Swiss firm, have partnered to integrate Zurich’s Quantum Computing Control System (QCCS) into QuantrolOx’s Quantum EDGE. This tool automates the process of setting up, characterizing, tuning, and controlling different qubit systems. The integration simplifies quantum computing experiments and enhances their performance. The collaboration also includes the use of the SHF+ product line, which enables high-fidelity gate operations. The partnership was facilitated by Zurich’s open-source software framework, LabOne Q. Vishal Chatrath, CEO of QuantrolOx, and Moritz Kirste, Head of Business Development for Quantum Technologies at Zurich Instruments, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration.

Quantum Computing Collaboration: QuantrolOx and Zurich Instruments

QuantrolOx, a Finnish company, and Zurich Instruments, based in Switzerland, have recently announced a partnership. As of March 2024, Zurich Instruments’ Quantum Computing Control System (QCCS) has been incorporated into QuantrolOx’s Quantum EDGE. Quantum EDGE is a tool designed for the automation of various tasks related to qubit systems, such as bringing-up, characterizing, tuning, and controlling. The QCCS, which combines RF Signal Generators (SG), Quantum Analyzers (QA), and Qubit Controllers (QC), has been integrated into Quantum EDGE to enhance the performance of quantum computing experiments.

The QCCS offers advanced features such as over 1 GHz instantaneous bandwidth for streamlined parallel qubit tune-up. This integration aims to simplify the process and improve the results obtained by users of Quantum EDGE.

The SHF+ Product Line: A New Addition to Quantum EDGE

Users of Quantum EDGE can now also utilize the recently developed SHF+ product line. This product line includes SHFSG+, SHFQA+, and SHFQC+. The SHF+ products offer technical specifications that enable high-fidelity gate operations. These include an exceptional signal-to-noise ratio with high output power, outstanding spectral purity without the need for mixer calibration, and fast output muting functionality for further noise reduction between pulses.

The Role of LabOne Q in the Integration

The integration of the QCCS with Quantum Edge has been made possible by Zurich Instruments’ LabOne Q open-source software framework. This technical collaboration began last year and has facilitated the integration process.

The Impact of the Collaboration

Vishal Chatrath, CEO and co-founder at QuantrolOx, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. He noted that working with Zurich Instruments has accelerated their progress, thanks to the elegance of their software framework and the unwavering support from their qualified team. He also highlighted that Zurich Instruments customers can now benefit from their automation capabilities for bring-up, characterization, and testing. In many cases, their software speeds up these steps by a factor of over 100x, thereby accelerating the path to quantum advantage.

Moritz Kirste, Head of Business Development for Quantum Technologies at Zurich Instruments, also affirmed the rewarding nature of the collaboration. He noted that QuantrolOx’s development of a user-friendly interface for controlling and reading out various qubit types paves the way for rapid scalability of quantum computing capabilities.

Future Plans for the Collaboration

Looking ahead, the collaboration’s roadmap underscores a concerted effort to enhance QuantrolOx’s Quantum EDGE qubit automation software with Zurich Instruments QCCS capabilities. The focus is on advancing multi-qubit gate operations and refining readout.
