CERN Quantum Technology Initiative has launched a new series of online lectures to investigate Quantum Science.

The CERN Quantum Technology Initiative (QTI) has organized a new lecture series as a follow-up to the first International Conference on Quantum Technologies for High-Energy Physics (QT4HEP22) within the context of its education and training program. CERN aims to understand what the universe is comprised of and how it operates. They aim to offer researchers a unique set of particle accelerator facilities to push human knowledge’s boundaries.

CERN was developed through the first resolution concerning establishing a European Council for Nuclear Research (in French Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire), adopted during the intergovernmental meeting of UNESCO in Paris in December 1951.

In addition to fostering creative ideas in high-energy physics and beyond, CERN is uniquely positioned to function as an “honest broker” between CERN Member States thanks to its international, open, and neutral platform, collaborative culture, and successful track record of innovations.

CERN QTI’s 3-day Online Lectures

The selected talks, which will begin on March 1, 2023, will touch on various topics related to four important research areas: quantum theory and simulation; quantum sensing, metrology, and materials; quantum computing and algorithms; and quantum communication and networks.

The program’s main objective is to give young scientists a platform to present their work and experiences, share ideas with other up-and-coming professionals, and contribute fresh perspectives to the constantly developing field of quantum research.

Each lecture aims to increase knowledge and comprehension of current advancements, opportunities, and difficulties in various fields of quantum research. It also provides resources and tools for further study on the topics discussed.

The online lectures will routinely be held on Wednesdays, beginning at 11:00 a.m., and are free and available to everyone. These will be streamed live for viewers anywhere and made accessible via Zoom to everyone with an active Indico account. The lectures will be filmed and made available for later viewing on the CERN QTI website and the CERN Lectures YouTube channel.

The following topics will be discussed (1) “Noisy gates approach for simulating quantum computers” by Michele Vischi and Giovanni Di Bartolomeo (University of Trieste), (2) Classical Splitting of Parametrized Quantum Circuits” by Cenk Tüysüz (DESY) and lastly, (3) “On the construction of useful quantum kernels” by Massimiliano Incudini (University of Verona).
