IQM and Scientek Sign Reseller Agreement Boost Quantum Computing in Taiwan

On 18 September 2025 in Taipei, IQM Quantum Computers of Finland and Scientek Corporation of Taiwan announced a reseller agreement that authorises Scientek to market and support IQM’s on‑premises superconducting quantum computers and cloud‑based access to those machines for universities, research institutes and enterprises across Taiwan. The pact aims to accelerate the commercialisation of quantum technology in the island and to extend IQM’s global footprint into the Asia‑Pacific.

Scientek brings 45 years of cryogenic instrumentation experience, having supplied cryo‑refrigerators, cluster‑control hardware and cryocoax cables to government research centres, universities and semiconductor fabs. Its expertise in low‑temperature infrastructure and reliability standards positions it to deploy and maintain IQM’s full‑stack systems locally.

IQM’s portfolio includes the Spark platform, a complete superconducting quantum computer that integrates a cryogenic refrigerator, a cluster‑control architecture and cryocoax cables. Spark can be operated on‑premises or accessed through a dedicated cloud service, allowing researchers to run quantum algorithms without leaving Taiwan.

In early September 2025, Spark was installed at the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI) in Taipei, marking the first fully integrated superconducting quantum computer in a Taiwanese research environment. The system provides on‑premises access to qubits operating at millikelvin temperatures and demonstrates IQM’s ability to deliver end‑to‑end hardware and software to local institutions.

Mikko Vlimki, Co‑CEO of IQM, said Scientek’s cryogenic expertise makes it an ideal partner for deploying IQM’s hardware in the region, while Simon Lin, CEO of Scientek, noted that the partnership will elevate Taiwan’s computing capabilities into the quantum age and help local institutions tackle complex scientific and industrial challenges.

The collaboration is expected to accelerate the commercialisation of quantum computing across the Asia‑Pacific, foster a domestic ecosystem for quantum research and application, and support the training of specialists, thereby positioning Taiwan as a key player in the global quantum economy.

As the Official Quantum Dog (or hound) by role is to dig out the latest nuggets of quantum goodness. There is so much happening right now in the field of technology, whether AI or the march of robots. But Quantum occupies a special space. Quite literally a special space. A Hilbert space infact, haha! Here I try to provide some of the news that might be considered breaking news in the Quantum Computing space.
