Quantum infrastructure software company Q-CTRL is expanding its reach within India’s burgeoning quantum computing sector through a new network of local resellers. The partnerships with ELTECH Consulting, Kquanta Research, Quantum Biosciences, and Uttkrist will increase access to Black Opal, Q-CTRL’s award-winning quantum workforce development platform, for students and professionals across the country. This expansion builds upon a successful initial rollout in Tamil Nadu and aligns with India’s National Quantum Education Mission and the All India Council for Technical Education’s objectives, aiming to equip the Indian workforce with essential quantum skills. Q-CTRL has already upskilled over 30,000 students in the UK through a similar initiative linked to the National Quantum Computer Centre.
Indian Expansion Builds on Tamil Nadu Success
Q-CTRL is extending the availability of its Black Opal quantum workforce development platform across India, building on a successful initial rollout in Tamil Nadu. This expansion is facilitated through new partnerships with ELTECH Consulting, Kquanta Research, Quantum Biosciences, and Uttkrist, aiming to equip students and professionals with essential quantum skills and directly supporting the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The Tamil Nadu implementation integrated Black Opal as a core learning module within the Naan Mudhalvan Upskilling Platform, achieving positive results with over 150 teachers and students.
These collaborations demonstrate Q-CTRL’s commitment to addressing the quantum skills gap and strengthening the financial ecosystem. Kquanta Research highlights the importance of accessible quantum education, while Quantum Biosciences emphasizes equipping professionals with the skills to harness the transformative potential of quantum computing. Uttkrist views the partnership as a significant step towards making quantum computing more accessible to Indian learners, supporting the country’s broader deep-tech innovation goals.
“After the success that we have seen implementing Black Opal in Tamil Nadu, we could not be more excited to continue the rollout of Black Opal with new partners in India. The Indian workforce has much to offer the quantum ecosystem, and Q-CTRL is humbled to be a part of empowering this next generation of workers.”
Aravind Ratnam, Chief Strategy Officer of Q-CTRL.
Workshop to Empower Educators with Quantum Tools
Q-CTRL and Quantum Biosciences are jointly supporting a workshop, Q-Karyashala 2025, in partnership with the Indian Institute of Science, to introduce educators to Black Opal and facilitate its integration into classroom curricula. This initiative aims to engage over 150 teachers and kickstart the wider adoption of the platform, providing them with the resources and knowledge necessary to introduce quantum computing concepts to their students.
Black Opal is designed to be adaptable for both students and educators, enabling the creation of bespoke quantum education programmes. For teachers, the platform offers functionalities such as curriculum alignment with specific learning objectives, the ability to construct an unlimited number of assignments, and exportable analytics for tracking student progress. This granular level of control allows educators to tailor the learning experience to meet the unique needs of their students and institutional requirements.
Platform Features and Benefits
The Black Opal platform prioritises both accessibility and customisation, allowing for a nuanced approach to quantum workforce development. Educators benefit from the platform’s adaptability, enabling curriculum alignment with specific learning objectives through tailored assignments and comprehensive tracking of student progress via exportable analytics, providing valuable insights into learning outcomes and areas for improvement.
These features collectively position Black Opal as a versatile tool for institutions and individuals seeking to integrate quantum computing education into their existing frameworks or establish new learning initiatives. The platform offers interactive learning modules, skill badges, and completion certificates for students, alongside tailored assignments and exportable analytics for educators.
