The Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP) is facilitating immediate entry into the Illinois quantum ecosystem for future tenants through its new On-Ramp program, a network of temporary locations at existing innovation facilities. Partnering with mHUB, the UChicago Science Incubator at Hyde Park Labs, and the Discovery Partners Institute, the IQMP will allow companies to begin operations while the permanent Park is under development; the mHUB site alone boasts four quantum labs equipped with specialized tools like cryostats and lasers. “On-Ramp ensures that companies choosing to make the IQMP their home do not have to wait until our doors are open to begin building, hiring and collaborating here in Illinois,” said Harley Johnson, Executive Director and CEO of the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park. This initiative reinforces Illinois’ position as a global quantum destination by accelerating innovation and providing access to crucial resources.
mHUB, UChicago & DPI Launch IQMP On-Ramp Program
The IQMP’s On-Ramp program will allow future tenants of the planned park to begin operations immediately at existing innovation hubs while construction at the main site continues; this proactive approach aims to circumvent typical delays associated with new infrastructure development. The mHUB location will house four dedicated quantum labs equipped with specialized tools including cryostats, control electronics, and optical tables, alongside access to prototyping resources and a collaborative community. Early participants in the On-Ramp program include prominent firms like IBM, Pasqal, Diraq, and Quantum Machines, building on the momentum of the 2025 launch of Hyde Park Labs and a Bluefors lab at mHUB. “The On-Ramp program ensures that innovative companies can establish operations, create high-quality jobs, and begin collaborating with our world-class research institutions and industry partners right away,” said Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Director Kristin Richards. Renovations at mHUB, supported by state grant funding, are slated for completion in Spring 2026.
Specialized Quantum Equipment at mHUB & Hyde Park Labs
Tenants will benefit not only from the equipment but also from access to mHUB’s prototyping resources and collaborative community. The UChicago Science Incubator complements these resources with move-in ready lab space featuring optical suites and cryostat capacity, alongside a 124-mile fiber optic quantum loop and entrepreneurial support from the University of Chicago’s Polsky Center. Early quantum tenants already utilizing the Incubator include memQ, Quantum Machines, Bluefors, and stac12, demonstrating existing momentum. “Participants in On-Ramp will not only have access to the technical infrastructure they need but will be integrated into mHUB’s larger hard tech and deep tech community,” said mHUB Chief Operating Officer, Manas Mahendru.
Illinois continues to lead the quantum economy by removing barriers and accelerating opportunity.
