Zurich Instruments Unveils SHF+ Line: A Quantum Leap in High-Fidelity Qubit Control and Readout

Zurich Instruments has launched a new product line, SHF+, aimed at enhancing qubit control and readout in quantum computing. The SHF+ line offers a higher signal-to-noise ratio and lower phase noise, improving the performance of quantum computing algorithms. The product line includes the SHFQC+ Qubit Controller, SHFSG+ Signal Generator, and SHFQA+ Quantum Analyzer. The company’s software framework, LabOne Q, is included with all SHF+ instruments to streamline quantum computing workflows. The new products have been tested in leading labs in Switzerland, Korea, Germany, and the US.

Introduction to the SHF+ Product Line: Enhancing Qubit Control and Readout

Zurich Instruments has introduced a new product line, the SHF+, which aims to enhance the control and readout of qubits, the basic units of quantum information. The SHF+ line includes the SHFQC+ Qubit Controller, SHFSG+ Signal Generator, and SHFQA+ Quantum Analyzer. These instruments are equipped with a new analog front end, which is designed to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and reduce phase noise, thereby enhancing the overall performance of the instruments.

Improved Fidelity with the SHF+ Product Line

The SHF+ product line is designed to offer a higher SNR, which is among the highest available in the market. A higher SNR for qubit control can lead to a lower effective qubit temperature and higher gate fidelity, while a higher SNR for qubit readout can result in less measurement-induced dephasing. Additionally, the new fast output muting functionality allows for further silencing of the output channels during the times between pulses, which can be beneficial for measurements on highly sensitive qubits.

The SHF+ line also features improved phase noise, which can help suppress phase errors in the control of long-lived qubits. This feature is particularly beneficial when pulses are far apart in time, which is why special attention was paid to the phase noise at low offset frequencies. These enhancements aim to maximize the fidelity of quantum computing algorithms.

Accelerating Progress with LabOne Q

The SHF+ instruments are equipped with LabOne Q, a software framework designed to accelerate progress in quantum computing labs. LabOne Q covers the full experimental workflow at a high level and handles all instrument programming and synchronization. With an extensive example library, LabOne Q allows users to focus more on their innovations in quantum engineering and less on programming.

Real-World Testing of the SHF+ Product Line

The SHF+ product line has been tested in some of the world’s leading labs in Switzerland, Korea, Germany, and the US. These partnerships were established to ensure that the technical specifications of the new instruments lead to outstanding performance benefits in the lab. Zurich Instruments is open to scheduling demos for those interested in exploring the potential of the SHF+ line in their own labs.

Highlighted Products in the SHF+ Line

The SHF+ line includes the SHFQC+ Qubit Controller, SHFSG+ Signal Generator, and SHFQA+ Quantum Analyzer. The SHFQC+ Qubit Controller and SHFSG+ Signal Generator both operate at 8.5 GHz, while the SHFQA+ Quantum Analyzer features an 8.5 GHz front panel. These instruments are designed to work together to enhance the control and readout of qubits, thereby improving the overall performance of quantum computing systems.
