Rigetti Secures £3.5M from Innovate UK to Advance Quantum Error Correction on Superconducting Computers

Rigetti Computing has been selected as a winner of Innovate UK’s Quantum Missions pilot competition, collaborating with Riverlane and the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) to enhance quantum error correction (QEC) on superconducting quantum computers. The £3.5 million project aims to benchmark and improve QEC capabilities, which are crucial for achieving fault-tolerant quantum computing.

Rigetti plans to upgrade its NQCC-based quantum computer with a 36-qubit processor and a new control system, while Riverlane will lead experiments targeting improved performance metrics.
