Rigetti Computing Nears Perfect Quantum Computing with 99.5% Entanglement

Rigetti Computing has achieved 99.5% median two-qubit entanglement in a multi-chiplet quantum system. The company integrated quantum and classical processing to reach this level of entanglement, demonstrating progress in scaling quantum computing capabilities. The reported entanglement was achieved within a system utilising multi-chiplet architecture. Rigetti Computing, Inc. reports a median two-qubit entanglement of 99.599.5%. This was achieved through the integration of multi-chiplet-based quantum-classical systems. The company is focused on scaling to 99.5% two-qubit entangled photon-mechanical systems, involving multi-qubit entangled photon-based quantum-mechanical scaling. Rigetti Computing is also exploring dimensionality, including a /5000-dimensional system and mechanical-dimensional systems, referencing multiple case studies and dimensional analyses.

“We benefit from the many advantages of superconducting qubits, including gate speeds more than 1,000x faster than other modalities like ion trap and pure atoms, and scalability. By leveraging well-known techniques from the semiconductor industry, we’ve developed proprietary technology that we believe is critical to enable scaling to higher qubit count systems,” says Dr. Subodh Kulkarni, Rigetti CEO. “We look forward to sharing more updates when we release our operating results for the second quarter of 2025.”

Rigetti is a full-stack quantum computing company that has been providing cloud-based quantum computing services since 2017. The company serves enterprise, government, and research clients through its Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services platform.

Key offerings:

  • On-premises quantum systems (24-84 qubits) launched in 2021 for national labs and quantum centers
  • The 9-qubit Novera QPU (2023) designed for R&D communities to integrate with existing systems
  • Proprietary quantum-classical infrastructure that integrates with public and private clouds

Notable achievements:

  • Developed the industry’s first multi-chip quantum processor for scalable systems
  • Operates Fab-1, the first dedicated quantum device manufacturing facility where they design and manufacture chips in-house

Rigetti positions itself as a pioneer in making quantum computing practical and accessible through both cloud services and on-premises solutions.

As the Official Quantum Dog (or hound) by role is to dig out the latest nuggets of quantum goodness. There is so much happening right now in the field of technology, whether AI or the march of robots. But Quantum occupies a special space. Quite literally a special space. A Hilbert space infact, haha! Here I try to provide some of the news that might be considered breaking news in the Quantum Computing space.
