QuSecure Unveils QuProtect Core Security: Quantum-Proof Encryption for Cisco Routers

QuSecure, a leader in post-quantum cryptography (PQC), has launched QuProtect Core Security, a product designed to enhance the security of Cisco router-to-router communications against quantum threats. The product uses advanced crypto-agile PQC to provide robust protection for critical network infrastructures. The solution requires no hardware upgrades and is designed to integrate with Cisco’s existing router frameworks.

QuSecure’s product was developed in response to customer demand and is aimed at sectors including telecoms, financial services, and government. The product was developed in collaboration with Cisco Distinguished Architect Craig Hill, QuSecure Security Architect Joey Lupo, and QuSecure Chief Architect Scott Kawaguchi.

QuSecure Introduces Post-Quantum Cryptography Protection for Cisco Router Network Encryption

QuSecure, Inc., a company specializing in post-quantum cryptography (PQC), has introduced QuProtect Core Security, a product aimed at strengthening existing Cisco router-to-router communications against potential quantum threats. The product utilizes advanced crypto-agile post-quantum cryptography to provide a robust security layer for critical network infrastructures, including enterprises, government, and telecommunications providers.

Addressing Quantum Decryption Threats

The U.S. federal standards body NIST is expected to release the official post-quantum cryptographic standards soon, in response to the threat quantum decryption poses to data security. The White House has already mandated federal government agencies to start upgrading networks to quantum-safe encryption. QuProtect Core Security simplifies this upgrade process, providing an additional layer of protection for Cisco routers capable of running IKEv2 and IPsec today, while also utilizing the forward-looking Cisco Secure Key Integration Protocol (SKIP).

Seamless Integration with Existing Infrastructure

QuProtect Core Security does not require hardware upgrades, allowing Cisco service providers, government, and enterprise customers to use an external post-quantum key distribution system and seamlessly upgrade their encryption to protect data transmissions most at risk of today’s harvest now, decrypt later (HNDL) threats. The solution is designed to integrate with Cisco’s existing router frameworks, providing a low-lift and low-risk upgrade that safeguards data with the next generation of cryptographic standards.

QuProtect Core Security: A Response to Customer Demand

QuSecure developed QuProtect Core Security in response to customer demand. The technology provides customers, including those in the telecom, financial services, and government sectors, with a starting point for the current PQC migration. QuProtect Core Security offers customers a minimally invasive way to gain insight and control over their encryption for critical use cases including core network, mobile network backhaul, data center to data center communications, and more – all without dependencies on cryptographic discovery and inventory processes.

Key Features of QuProtect Core Security

QuProtect Core Security includes a crypto-agile framework, which layers classical and quantum-safe algorithms to adapt to a dynamic cryptographic ecosystem of new algorithms, attacks, and standards. It is designed for easy overlay integration with existing Cisco routers, minimizing disruption and maximizing efficiency. The product incorporates the NIST suite of post-quantum cryptographic algorithms, offering state-of-the-art security. It also provides a cost-effective alternative to quantum key distribution (QKD) networks, addressing distance-limited point-to-point and hardware-intensive challenges. QuProtect Core Security is the result of extensive research and collaboration with leading cryptographic experts. Its launch signifies a major leap forward in making quantum-resistant encryption technologies accessible to organizations worldwide.

As the Official Quantum Dog (or hound) by role is to dig out the latest nuggets of quantum goodness. There is so much happening right now in the field of technology, whether AI or the march of robots. But Quantum occupies a special space. Quite literally a special space. A Hilbert space infact, haha! Here I try to provide some of the news that might be considered breaking news in the Quantum Computing space.
