Palo Alto Networks Delivers Quantum Security Readiness via Software Upgrade

Palo Alto Networks has announced new capabilities within its PAN-OS 12.1 Orion software release to address evolving quantum, cloud, and AI security challenges. These include a Quantum Readiness Dashboard providing visibility into cryptographic risk, an industry-first cypher translation feature upgrading applications to quantum-safe encryption, and Quantum-Optimised Hardware comprising 14 new 5th-generation Next-Generation Firewall models. The platform also introduces a Cloud Network and AI Risk Assessment, automated deployment of security instances, and a scalable network security mesh, collectively designed to discover, deploy, and scale security across dynamic multi-cloud and AI environments.

Palo Alto Networks’ Comprehensive Approach

Palo Alto Networks delivers a comprehensive approach to quantum readiness across the enterprise, beginning with complete visibility and control over cryptographic risk posture through the Quantum Readiness Dashboard for Next-Generation Firewall and Secure Access Service Edge customers. For applications lacking native support for quantum-safe encryption, the company introduces an industry-first cypher translation capability, designed to upgrade any application to a quantum-safe state instantly. Complementing these software advancements, Palo Alto Networks is also introducing Quantum-Optimised Hardware, comprising fourteen new 5th-generation Next-Generation Firewall models intended to future-proof security investments with high-performance processing of post-quantum cryptography (PQC).

The platform automatically assesses every cloud and AI asset for risks stemming from weak or missing protection, identifying areas where security controls are needed, and automatically deploys software firewall, cloud firewall and Prisma AIRS instances. All cloud infrastructure is configured to steer traffic, including a secure multicloud networking mesh, and the platform automatically scales as needed, with load balancing integrated natively, eliminating the need for additional point products. This results in an industry-first network security platform that automatically discovers, deploys and scales security for dynamic multi-cloud and AI environments.

As the Official Quantum Dog (or hound) by role is to dig out the latest nuggets of quantum goodness. There is so much happening right now in the field of technology, whether AI or the march of robots. But Quantum occupies a special space. Quite literally a special space. A Hilbert space infact, haha! Here I try to provide some of the news that might be considered breaking news in the Quantum Computing space.
