AI-powered NS Prep within the Nullspace RF tools suite now allows radio frequency (RF) engineers to handle CAD cleanup themselves. Previously, RF engineers relied on iterative file transfers with mechanical design teams to remove unnecessary features impacting simulation speed; NS Prep’s automation eliminates this bottleneck. This accessibility streamlines workflows and accelerates preparation of CAD files for electromagnetic (EM) simulations, a critical step in antenna and radar system design. FAFS intelligently samples frequencies, automating a previously manual process that could miss critical performance artifacts. Combined with a proprietary matrix compression algorithm, this technology supports realistic modeling of complex systems like phased arrays and wideband antennas, accelerating design cycles for diverse applications.

Fast Adaptive Frequency Sweeps Enable 100x Simulation Speed-Ups

Fast Adaptive Frequency Sweeps (FAFS) within the new electromagnetic simulation suite deliver significant speed improvements by intelligently sampling frequencies. Previously, engineers manually selected frequency points, a process prone to missing critical data like undesirable resonances; FAFS automates this, requiring only the specification of a frequency range’s start and end points. This “smart sampling” utilizes physics-informed interpolation, allowing for up to 100x faster simulations while maintaining full-fidelity accuracy. Specifically, this technology benefits wideband antenna designs, phased array performance evaluations, and on-body analysis where comprehensive frequency sweeps are crucial. Engineers gain the ability to simulate larger, more complex designs without compromising on simulation accuracy or increasing design cycle times.

With legacy EM tools available on the market today, CAD files have to be transferred back and forth between mechanical design departments and RF engineers to properly clean up CAD files and prepare them for RF simulation.

Passive Circuit Loads Enhance Realistic Phased Array Modeling

The latest release of Nullspace EM introduces Passive Circuit Loads, expanding the scope of realistic phased array modeling. This feature allows engineers to incorporate electrically small impedance loads – common in phased arrays – directly into simulations, offering greater design flexibility. Consequently, analysis of antenna terminations and tunable circuit loads is now possible, facilitating optimization of impedance matching and system-level performance. Adding passive circuit loads enables more comprehensive simulations of large-scale phased arrays, improving design accuracy and speed.
