FormFactor, Tabor Electronics, and QuantWare Unveil High-Performance, Affordable 5-Qubit Quantum System

FormFactor Inc, Tabor Electronics LLC, and QuantWare have collaborated on the Echo-5Q project, aiming to redefine small-scale quantum computing. The Echo-5Q is a high-performing quantum system priced under $1M, designed to lower entry barriers for organizations interested in quantum computing. The system includes the FormFactor LF-600 Cryogen-free Dilution Refrigerator, the QuantWare Soprano-D 5-qubit QPU, and the Tabor Proteus Direct to RF Control Electronics. Mark Elo, CMO of Tabor Electronics, credits the companies’ combined experience for the project’s success.

Quantum Computing Collaboration Unveils High-Performance, Cost-Effective System

A collaborative project between FormFactor Inc, Tabor Electronics LLC, and QuantWare has resulted in the Echo-5Q, a small-scale quantum computing system that aims to redefine the field. The project’s objective was to leverage the extensive experience of these major quantum technology suppliers to construct a high-performing system for under $1M.

The Echo-5Q is a response to the rapidly expanding quantum computing market and the increasing demand for a trained quantum workforce. Designed as a turnkey solution, the Echo-5Q aims to lower the entry barriers for organizations wishing to participate in the quantum computing revolution. The system is intended as a tool for scientists and engineers to push technological boundaries and cultivate the next generation of quantum workforce.

Echo-5Q: A Comprehensive Quantum Computing Solution

The Echo-5Q system comprises the FormFactor LF-600 Cryogen-free Dilution Refrigerator, the QuantWare Soprano-D 5-qubit QPU, and the Tabor Proteus Direct to RF Control Electronics. The software stack is open-source and Python-based, making it accessible for beginners while still meeting the demands of experienced users.

The system’s initial setup has achieved T1s exceeding 100 us, a 250% improvement in T1 times compared to similar full stack computing solutions. This improvement is attributed to the superior cooling properties of the FormFactor dilution refrigerator, the simplified cabling system provided by Tabor’s digital direct to RF control electronics, and QuantWare’s advanced manufacturing processes.

The Power of Experience in Quantum Technology

Mark Elo, Chief Marketing Officer of Tabor Electronics, emphasized the importance of experience and longevity in achieving these results. FormFactor and Tabor have a combined business history of over 100 years, allowing them to refine their hardware over multiple product generations. This iterative process has improved capability and quality with each cycle, enabling optimal commercial performance from the QuantWare QPU.

About QuantWare: A Key Player in Quantum Processor Supply

QuantWare is a prominent supplier of quantum processors, providing these crucial components to organizations worldwide. This enables these organizations to build more efficient and faster quantum computers. With a commitment to a supply chain approach, QuantWare is developing technology to significantly increase the number of qubits in a single processor. This will pave the way for processors capable of performing useful quantum computation in the near future.

As the Official Quantum Dog (or hound) by role is to dig out the latest nuggets of quantum goodness. There is so much happening right now in the field of technology, whether AI or the march of robots. But Quantum occupies a special space. Quite literally a special space. A Hilbert space infact, haha! Here I try to provide some of the news that might be considered breaking news in the Quantum Computing space.
