Bayern Innovativ and Fraunhofer IIS are hosting a workshop on quantum computing for industrial applications. The workshop will focus on the use of machine learning and mathematical optimization in quantum computing. Participants will learn about the current status of these technologies and their potential applications. The workshop will feature presentations from experts such as Dr. Andreas Boehm from Bayern Innovativ, Dr. Daniel Scherer from Fraunhofer IIS, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Feld from Delft University of Technology & QuTech, and Dr. Shai Machnes from Qruise GmbH. The event aims to foster networking and development of application profiles and visions.
Quantum DevOps Workshop: Exploring Machine Learning and Mathematical Optimization
On September 29, 2023, Bayern Innovativ GmbH in Nuremberg will host a workshop on quantum computing for industrial applications. The workshop, organised in collaboration with Fraunhofer IIS, aims to educate service providers, software and hardware providers about the current status of optimization and machine learning in quantum computing. The workshop will also provide a forecast of developments in the field over the next 2-5 years.
The workshop is designed for service providers for optimization, software providers in the quantum computing (QC) area, hardware providers in the QC area, and stakeholders such as large companies with their research strategy. The goal is to help these groups understand where they can use QC as a service provider and to develop application profiles and visions.
Workshop Structure and Benefits
The all-day workshop will involve discussions on potential quantum computing applications, from concept through to implementation. The workshop will also focus on quantum DevOps and its positioning in the value chain. Participants will have the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and engage in vertical networking through the QC Stack, which includes hardware, software, and applications.
Topics to be Addressed
The workshop will cover a range of topics, including machine learning and mathematical optimization for quantum computing middleware/quantum DevOps. It will also explore use cases and examples of quantum computing-based machine learning and mathematical optimization in logistics and AI. The aim is to make QC usable with tools and helpers.
Workshop Schedule
The workshop will begin with a check-in at 09:30, followed by a welcome and introduction to the topic by Dr. Andreas Boehm and Dr. Daniel Scherer. The morning session will include presentations on machine learning for quantum system software and accelerating the development of quantum technologies using machine learning. The afternoon session will feature a case study on deploying a complex, hybrid-classical-quantum QUBO Solver in the cloud and a discussion on what consultants and users need in QC.
Participation in the workshop is free of charge. After registering for the workshop, participants will receive a confirmation of participation with a link to a questionnaire. The responses to this questionnaire will help the organisers prepare for the workshop and address the topics and concerns of the participants in a targeted manner.
- “Accelerating the development of quantum technologies using machine learning” – Dr Shai Machnes, CEO, Qruise GmbH
